Tee-Anupap Rides YZF-R6 to Podium at Home Race in ARRC Buriram

"Tee-Anupap" rode the YZF-R6 to a podium finish at his home race, while "Idea-Kritpat" crossed the line in the top five, maintaining his lead in the ARRC competition at Buriram.

The Asian Road Racing Championship 2026 Round 2 final race took place on Saturday, 9 May, at Chang International Circuit in Buriram Province, amid enthusiastic cheers from Thai motorsport fans.

The highlight was the podium battle involving Thai riders from Yamaha Thailand Racing Team. In the SuperSport 600cc class, veteran Thai rider "Tee" Anupap Samul, piloting the YAMAHA YZF-R6 number 500, started from a front-row grid. He raced 12 laps under hot conditions, testing tire management and pace control throughout the event.

"Tee-Anupap" had an excellent start and rode with disciplined strategy, sticking firmly with the lead pack. He launched his attack in the final three laps, taking the lead on the last lap but ultimately finished third with a total time of 20 minutes 6.544 seconds, earning a podium at his home race just 0.141 seconds behind the winner.

In the Asia Production 250cc class, the race was 10 laps. Young Thai rider "Idea" Kritpat Khueankham from Yamaha Thailand Racing Team started from pole position and battled fiercely at the front throughout the race.

Although the YAMAHA YZF-R3 bike number 39 had its engine rpm limited by 200 rpm per race regulations, making it harder to maintain speed on straights, "Idea-Kritpat" managed his race excellently, finishing fifth with a total time of 18 minutes 49.677 seconds, just 0.982 seconds behind the winner, and securely holding the top spot in the championship standings.

Meanwhile, "Gas" Theeranut Thapthim, a young wildcard rider for the team in his second race of the season, started from 12th on the grid. He steadily increased his pace, fought into the leading group near the end, and finished sixth, only 1.054 seconds behind the winner.

The Asian Road Racing Championship 2026 Round 2 second race will take place on Sunday, 10 May, with the Asia Production 250cc category starting at 14:10 local time, broadcast live online via the Asia Road Racing Championship page.
