Idea-Kritpat Claims Victory in Home Race - Tee-Anupap Doubles Podium at ARRC in Buriram, Championship Hopes Bright

"Idea" Kritpat Khuankham won the home race in a solo lead, while "Tee" Anupap secured double podiums at the ARRC in Buriram, keeping their championship hopes bright.

Yamaha Thailand Racing Team delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 Asia Road Racing Championship Round 2, as rising star "Idea" Kritpat Khuankham led solo on his YZF-R3 to claim victory in the Asia Production 250cc class, topping the championship standings. Meanwhile, "Tee" Anupap Samul continued his strong form, securing double podium finishes in the Supersport 600cc class, keeping his championship challenge alive after two exciting races at Chang International Circuit, Buriram.

The Asia Road Racing Championship 2026 Round 2 final race took place on Sunday, 10 May, under close watch from Thai motorsport fans.

The Supersport 600cc (SS600) class remained the highlight of every round, with the race contested over 12 laps as usual. Experienced Thai rider "Tee" Anupap Samul of Yamaha Thailand Racing Team, riding the YZF-R6 bearing number 500, started from second on the grid and had a strong start.

The race unfolded similarly to Saturday's first race, with "Tee" Anupap launching an attack in the final three laps to take the lead before playing it safe in the last corner to maximize his points. He crossed the finish line in second place with a total time of 20 minutes 2.226 seconds, just 0.130 seconds behind the winner. This was enough to secure podiums in both races, keeping his championship hopes alive with 60 points and closing the gap to the leader in the standings to 12 points after four races this season.

In the Asia Production 250cc class, contested over 10 laps, "Idea" Kritpat Khuankham, the young Thai rider bearing number 39 from Yamaha Thailand Racing Team, delivered an excellent performance. Despite engine restrictions reducing RPM, he powered his YZF-R3 to a solo lead and clinched victory with a total time of 18 minutes 41.804 seconds.

Meanwhile, "Gus" Teernaithab Thabtim, a new young talent on the team with bike number 36, started from 12th on the grid and fought hard, contending for a podium spot until the final corner where the result had to be decided by a photo finish. He ultimately finished fifth, 6.732 seconds behind the winner.

After four races across the first two rounds in the Asia Production 250cc class, "Idea" Kritpat leads the championship with three wins and a total of 86 points. Meanwhile, "Gus" Teernaithab is in eighth place with 27 points.

The next round of the 2026 Asia Road Racing Championship will take place from 12 to 14 June at Mobility Resort Motegi, Japan.
