Meanwhile, Jai Angsuthasawit captured the men's open Keirin title as anticipated. "Sergeant Major Muek" revealed that the Cycling Association will send road cyclists to compete in the 2026 Asian Championships in Saudi Arabia, targeting at least one gold medal.

The 2026 Thailand Track Cycling Championships for the Queen Sirikit Trophy, Round 1, took place from 30 January to 1 February at the Velodrome within the Sports Authority of Thailand in Huamark. On 30 January, the opening ceremony was chaired by "Sergeant Major Muek," General Decha Hemkrasri, Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and President of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage. The event was broadcast live on the Thailand Cycling Association's Facebook page, TCA Channel, and YouTube: TCA Channel, drawing over 8,000 viewers.

Before the opening ceremony, General Decha Hemkrasri, President of the Cycling Association, led the association's executive committee, athletes, and staff in a solemn tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, on the 100th-day memorial of her passing (Satamavara). They honored her immeasurable grace in donating the permanent trophy awarded to winners of the Thailand Track Cycling Championships.

Following the opening ceremony, General Decha stated that this first round of the track cycling championship was registered with the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) as a national championship (CN). Winners in registered categories—including men's and women's open, under-23 men and women, and youth men and women—earn the right to wear the national champion's white jersey throughout 2026 and the following national championships recognized by UCI and the Cycling Association of Thailand. They will also earn UCI world ranking points according to set criteria.

General Decha added that preparations are underway to send the Thai national road cycling team to the 2026 Asian Championships in Saudi Arabia from 5 to 11 February. The goal is to secure at least one gold medal or another medal in events such as the time trial for men's and women's open categories, the mixed team relay time trial for youth men and women, road races for men's and women's open categories, and the masters category, which also has medal prospects. The association has been working diligently, organizing competitions since early in the year with continuous events planned to develop Thailand's cycling sports.

"Sergeant Major Muek" further said that the association's upcoming plan includes preparing athletes for the 20th Asian Games in Japan, scheduled from 19 September to 4 October. Recently, the Sports Authority of Thailand invited the association to provide information on athletes to be selected. The selection will focus on performances from the 33rd SEA Games and the 19th Asian Games, primarily choosing athletes with realistic medal prospects. The selection committee will finalize the list by 17 February, after the road cycling Asian Championships in Saudi Arabia conclude.
