“Seth.Muek” revealed that the Tak governor confirms 100% readiness to host the final Thailand Cycling Championship event, testing national team cyclists before the Asian Games.
“Seth.Muek” revealed that Mr. Chusak Ruying, the Tak governor, confirmed full readiness to welcome over 2,000 cyclists and their supporters from across the country for the 5th and final Thailand Cycling Championship, held at Bhumibol Dam from 7-9 August. This event will decide the 2026 national champions and serve as a test for the Thai national cycling team preparing for the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya. Bhumibol Dam will host over 40 community shops and OTOP vendors daily to welcome attendees, boosting Tak’s economy and tourism. Cycling fans can watch live broadcasts on Thai PBS and the Thailand Cycling Association’s Facebook Live.
“Seth.Muek,” General Decha Hemakrasri, Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and President of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, stated that the Cycling Association of Thailand, in cooperation with Tak Province and Bhumibol Dam, is organizing the 5th and final Thailand Road and Mountain Bike Championships for 2026 from 7-9 August at Bhumibol Dam. The road race will use routes within Bhumibol Dam and parts of Sam Ngao District, while the mountain bike race will be entirely within the dam area.
General Decha said the Cycling Association received confirmation from Mr. Chusak Ruying, Governor of Tak Province, that all involved agencies have fully prepared, including police officers, public health officials, disaster prevention volunteers, and rescue volunteers who will manage traffic alongside the police. At this point, Tak Province and Bhumibol Dam are 100% ready to welcome cyclists from all over the country. Over 2,000 participants and their followers are expected for the final race, which will help stimulate the local economy and promote tourism. He urged cyclists who have not yet booked accommodations to do so quickly as lodging within Bhumibol Dam and Sam Ngao District is quite limited.
"The 5th race will be the final event to decide the Thailand champions, who will receive royal trophies. Outstanding male and female athletes in both road and mountain bike categories will be awarded the prestigious Preeda Julamon trophy, while the best coach will receive the Seri Trirat trophy, honoring the father of Thai cycling. Another highlight is that mountain bike champions in each category will have the honor of an audience with His Majesty the King to receive their trophies. Organizers and provincial representatives who hosted all five events will also be granted royal plaques in due course, a most gracious royal favor," General Decha said.
“Seth.Muek” added that the final race will also serve as a performance test for the Thai national cycling team preparing for the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan. Additionally, the Cycling Association, together with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) and Bhumibol Dam, will organize the “Bike for Life-TCA GREEN CYCLING” health ride on Saturday, 8 August at 3:00 p.m. This event supports green sports, emphasizing environmental protection, pollution reduction, waste minimization, and combating global warming over a 6-kilometer course. Campaigns against e-cigarette use, which is spreading among youth and poses cancer risks while being illegal, will also be promoted, alongside initiatives encouraging people to quit smoking and drinking alcohol.
General Decha added that the public can watch live coverage on Thai PBS, which will broadcast the road race for the men’s citizen and under-23 categories on Sunday, 9 August from 2:10 to 4:00 p.m. Live streams will also be available via Facebook Live on the Thailand Cycling Association page and the TCA Channel YouTube. On Friday, 7 August, the road race time trial will be broadcast live starting at 9:00 a.m.; on Saturday, 8 August, the Bike for Life-TCA GREEN CYCLING event will be streamed live at 3:00 p.m.; and on Sunday, 9 August, the youth men's road race will be broadcast live starting at 9:30 a.m.
“To prepare for the final phase before the competition, the Cycling Association has assigned Wing Commander Wisut Kasiyaphat, Vice President for Technical Affairs, to meet with police, public health officials, and rescue volunteers in Sam Ngao District on Thursday, 6 August at 1:00 p.m. in the Mae Ping meeting room to discuss route details, followed by assistant referee training at 2:00 p.m. in the same room. Team managers’ meeting is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Sirichon Pavilion at the Bhumibol Dam office on the same day,” General Decha said.
Mr. Prasit Upachit, Director of Bhumibol Dam, said that the dam is pleased to co-host the 5th Thailand Road and Mountain Bike Championships, which attracts many cyclists nationwide, resulting in full accommodations at the dam throughout the three-day event. More than 40 community and OTOP shops have been arranged to serve athletes, supporters, and tourists to generate income for local people and promote the community economy. Last year, these shops earned over 650,000 baht. Meanwhile, athletes can enjoy sightseeing at the dam, experiencing the beauty of the “Father’s Dam,” or visit the Khok Nong Na Project, an agricultural development initiative applying King Rama IX’s sufficiency economy philosophy to achieve sustainable economic, social, and environmental benefits.
