“Jao Sod” Chatchai Decha demands that Olympic boxing selection must require competing in the Thai Championship first — it’s not a matter of sending anyone arbitrarily; there must be rules and regulations.
Chatchai Decha Butdee, former Thai national amateur boxer, posted on his personal Facebook expressing his views on Olympic boxer selection, emphasizing that athletes should prove their skills by competing in the Thai Championship before being considered for international contests.
In his post, he stated, “Boxers must win the Thai Championship before going to the Olympics. It’s not just about sending whoever you want. There are rules. It’s ridiculous otherwise.”
The post attracted attention from boxing fans, especially regarding the criteria and appropriateness of athlete selection for major competitions. “Jao Sod” reaffirmed his stance that clear competitions and rules should exist so boxers can prove their ability before advancing to the Olympic stage.
Chatchai Decha Butdee is one of Thailand’s most experienced amateur boxers, having competed extensively internationally and participated in the Olympic Games twice, in 2012 and 2016.
