‘Seth Muek’ announces the selection criteria for young balance bike riders to compete in the 2027 Asian Championship, with Thailand hosting the event in 2027.
‘Seth Muek,’ General Decha Hemkrasri, revealed the selection criteria for young balance bike cyclists to represent Thailand in the Asian Balance Bike 2027, which Thailand will host. Selection is based on performance in the 2026 Thailand Championships and the first event of 2027. The competition welcomes young riders aged 2-11 years to gain experience on the Asian stage. The final event will be held on 6 September at Kamon (FBT) Sports Park on Suwinthawong Road, Nong Chok District, Bangkok. The Cycling Association will award trophies, certificates, and souvenir doll bouquets to all participants, as in previous events.
General Decha Hemkrasri, Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and President of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, announced that the Cycling Association, together with Sino-Pacific Trading (Thailand) Co., Ltd., the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), and Football Thai Sporting Goods Factory Co., Ltd. (FBT), will organize the 2026 Little Balance Bike Thailand Championship, competing for the Royal Trophy of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The fifth and final event will take place on Sunday, 6 September, at Kamon (FBT) Sports Park on Suwinthawong Road, Nong Chok District, Bangkok.
General Decha said the final event of the Thailand Little Balance Bike Championship is expected to attract many participants, as it will determine the champion in each age category and the holder of the Royal Trophy. It will also select athletes to represent Thailand at the Asian Balance Bike 2027 (Asian Balance Bike 2027 Presented by BATAC). At the ACC executive committee meeting on 6 August in Malaysia, chaired by Dato Amajit Singh Gill, the members approved Thailand as the host for the second time in 2027, recognizing Thailand’s strong capabilities and readiness.
General Decha added that following consultations between the Thai Cycling Association and ACC, the Asian Balance Bike 2027 will feature 14 categories: under 2 years, 3 years, 4 years, 5 years, 6 years, 7 years, and 8-11 years, for both boys and girls. Age will be determined by birth year. The race format will be circuit races not exceeding 300 meters. The event is preliminarily scheduled for 26 June 2027 at Central Korat Shopping Mall in Nakhon Ratchasima Province.
‘Seth Muek’ further explained the selection criteria for the Thai national team for Asian Balance Bike 2027: First, in the 3- to 7-year age groups, athletes must have competed in at least four events of the 2026 Thailand Little Balance Bike Championship and rank among the top three in cumulative points per category (except the 8-11 age group). The qualified athletes’ names will be announced on www.thaicycling.or.th.
Second, additional selections will be made from the first 2027 Thailand Little Balance Bike Championship event at Central Korat on 2 May 2027, where the top two athletes in each category (except Open5 and Open7 classes) will qualify for their respective age groups. Third, for the under-2 and 2-year-old categories, up to 10 representatives per category will be chosen from the same event to represent Thailand in the 2-year category (born in 2025). Fourth, the 8-11 age group will be selected based on cumulative points from 2026, taking the top two from Open7 and Open10 classes (born between 2016-2019).
Fifth, additional selections for the 8-11 age group will come from the top two in the Open10 class at the first 2027 event at Central Korat. The list of qualified athletes will be announced on https://www.thaicycling.or.th. Sixth, the Cycling Association reserves the right to consider additional athletes from the 2027 first event for Asian Balance Bike 2027 by age group, excluding Open5, Open7, and Open10 categories. Seventh, each age group will have no more than 10 athletes representing Thailand in the Asian Balance Bike 2027.
Eighth, athletes qualified from the 2026 Thailand Little Balance Bike results and the 2027 first event must confirm their participation and specify their Thai national team jersey size on www.thaicycling.or.th by 15 May 2027, 15:00. Failure to confirm by the deadline will be considered a forfeiture, and no replacements will be made.
General Decha added that the 2026 Thailand Little Balance Bike Championship final event on Sunday, 6 September, will be a racing format. The track will open for line practice on Friday, 4 September at 12:00 via the Thailand Cycling Association’s Facebook page. Athletes can practice on Saturday, 5 September from 09:00 to 17:00. A team managers’ meeting will be held at 17:00 on the third floor of the FBT office building inside Kamon Sports Park.
The Thai Cycling Association has prepared trophies for all athletes participating in the final event, as in previous events, to honor their dedication and effort. Athletes who do not reach the final top 10 or rank 11th and below will receive trophies, certificates, and souvenir doll bouquets, in addition to the royal commemorative medals granted by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to all participants.

During the prize draws, additional souvenirs will be given to encourage all young balance bike competitors. The association aims to make the Little Balance Bike competition a platform for learning, skill development, happiness, and sustainable inspiration for Thai children,” General Decha said.
