"Seth. Muek" emphasizes the "Thailand Open" as a platform for developing rising stars and confirms that national team athletes will not be allowed to compete. Phichit is prepared to host the final round to decide the Thailand champion.
"Seth. Muek" revealed that the Thailand Open cycling events do not allow national team athletes to compete in any round, in order to give new and young athletes the opportunity to showcase their potential and advance to the national team in the future. The final round, held on 12-13 September in Phichit Province, will determine who becomes the Thailand champion and wins the royal trophy. Mr. Thanit Phumithaworn, Deputy Governor of Phichit, confirmed full readiness and welcomed cyclists and their supporters from across the country.
"Seth. Muek," General Decha Hemkrasri, Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and President of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, disclosed that the Cycling Association, together with Phichit Province, the Phichit Provincial Administrative Organization, the Sports Authority of Thailand in Phichit, and related agencies, will organize the 2026 Thailand Open mountain biking and road cycling competition for the royal trophy granted by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The fourth and final round will take place on 12-13 September 2026, using the Saranchit Mongkolsuk Cycling Track within Bueng Si Fai, passing through Pho Thap Chang and Thap Khlo districts, covering 72 km.
General Decha stated that the Cycling Association has established a strict rule forbidding national team athletes from competing in all Thailand Open events to clearly separate competitions. Events focused on excellence allow national team athletes to compete, whereas the Thailand Open serves as a platform for new and young athletes in youth and public categories to demonstrate their potential and gain experience, aiming to identify outstanding athletes for future national team selection.
"The fourth round is the final event to determine who will become the Thailand champion and hold the royal trophy. It is expected to attract many cyclists and nearly 2,000 supporters, causing hotels and resorts in Phichit to be nearly fully booked. Besides adding vibrancy to Phichit, it will stimulate the local economy, benefiting hotels, restaurants, OTOP shops, and souvenir stores. At the same time, cyclists and their followers can visit important local sites such as paying respects to Luang Pho Phet at Wat Tha Luang, Luang Pho Ngoen at Wat Bang Klan, the nearly 300-year-old Wat Pho Thap Chang, exploring the old Wang Krot market area, and enjoying the sunset atmosphere at Bueng Si Fai," General Decha said.
"Seth. Muek" added that to prepare for the event, the Cycling Association assigned Secretary-General Navy Captain Thitaporn Noirak and Technical Vice President Coach Tum Wisut Kasiyaphat, along with their team, to meet with relevant agencies including police, public health, local administrative organizations, and rescue volunteers. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Thaniya Naiphichit, Governor of Phichit Province, with Deputy Governor Thanit Phumithaworn also present. The governor emphasized each agency’s responsibilities to ensure the event is organized with due honor.
General Decha further stated that the opening ceremony for the mountain biking event on Saturday, 12 September, will be chaired by Ms. Thaniya Naiphichit, Governor of Phichit Province, at the Bird Observation Tower area within Bueng Si Fai, starting at 08:30. The road cycling opening ceremony on Sunday, 13 September, will be chaired by Mr. Krit Pensupa, President of the Phichit Provincial Administrative Organization, starting at 07:30. Both events will be live-streamed via Facebook Live on Thailand Cycling Association and TCA Channel, as well as YouTube: TCA Channel throughout the two days.
Mr. Thanit Phumithaworn, Deputy Governor of Phichit Province, said the province has the Saranchit Mongkolsuk cycling track within Bueng Si Fai, named by His Majesty the King. Phichit is well-prepared to host mountain biking and road cycling competitions, particularly the routes inside Bueng Si Fai and the designated external routes. Phichit has extensive experience hosting cycling events for many years and is ready to welcome cyclists from across the country. Its central location between northern and central regions makes travel convenient for athletes.
"The Saranchit Mongkolsuk cycling track inside Bueng Si Fai is beautiful and well-known among cyclists nationwide. The routes extending to Pho Thap Chang and Thap Khlo districts are equally scenic, especially Wat Pho Thap Chang, which has a long history dating back to the Ayutthaya period. The Thap Khlo route passes through villagers’ pomelo orchards. We invite cyclists nationwide to join the competition and visit Phichit.
