Public Cannot Rely on Them! Man in Tennis Outfit Throws Fermented Fish at Election Commission, Calls Organization Rotten

Public cannot rely on them! A man dressed in tennis clothes stormed the Election Commission (EC) and threw fermented fish, denouncing the organization as rotten.

On 12 Feb 2026 GMT+7, a man dressed in tennis gear, carrying his favorite tennis racket, stormed the front of the Election Commission (EC) office at the Government Complex in Chaeng Watthana to throw fermented fish in protest. He vented his frustration, claiming the EC repeatedly made mistakes, especially regarding the recounting of votes, and said the EC is an organization the public cannot depend on.

Mr. Thewa (surname withheld), a resident of Pak Kret, Nonthaburi Province and former tennis coach, dressed in tennis attire and carrying a tennis racket, attended to observe as political activist Sonthiya Sawasdee held a press conference in front of the EC office. After listening to the press conference, Mr. Thewa threw a bag of fermented fish he had brought at the wall in front of the EC office.

Mr. Thewa cried before saying the reason for his act was dissatisfaction with the EC's performance. He claimed the previous election in 2023 had problems, and the same issues persist this time, especially regarding the vote recount. He views the EC as an organization the public cannot rely on.

He admitted he had previously thrown fermented fish here once in 2023 and said he was not afraid of legal consequences because he wanted to express his stance and demand accountability. He chose to throw the fish at the front wall instead of going inside to avoid affecting the journalists working there.
