"Mai" Mananchaya Sawan-kaew fought with full effort before losing to the world No. 9, exiting in the third round of the 2026 Wimbledon tennis tournament, a regrettable outcome.
The third Grand Slam tennis tournament of the year, the 2026 Wimbledon, held in England, women's singles third round (round of 32) on Friday night, 3 July 2026 GMT+7, featured an interesting match between "Mai" Mananchaya Sawan-kaew, the Thai female tennis player ranked world No. 164 who had already played 5 matches since the qualifiers, against Karolína Muchová, world No. 9 and seeded 10th in the tournament from the Czech Republic.
The result showed that although Mananchaya was the underdog by ranking and reputation, she fought hard and scored several impressive points, especially in the second set where she broke Muchová's serve in the 5th game before being broken back in the 10th game. Ultimately, Mananchaya lost the match 0-2 sets, 2-6, 6-7(1-7), with a total match time of 1 hour and 1 minute.
Nevertheless, Mananchaya will receive prize money of £185,000, approximately 8.2 million baht, for reaching this round, along with 130 additional world ranking points.
