BumBim Opens Up Tearfully as Thai Womens Volleyball Claims 17th SEA Games Gold After Thrilling 5-Set Battle with Vietnam

"BumBim" Chatchu-on Moksri, team captain, opened up about her feelings of confidence, disappointment, and the team's spirit after Thailand's women's national volleyball team claimed their 17th SEA Games gold medal.

On 15 December 2025 GMT+7, Thailand's women's national volleyball team achieved a major success by winning their 17th SEA Games gold medal after a thrilling five-set match against Vietnam. They won 3-2 sets with scores of 19-25, 25-13, 25-18, 23-25, and 25-23. The deciding set extended to 25 points, with match points exchanged back and forth before the game ended with an ace serve from Pimpichaya Kokram.

After the match, "BumBim" Chatchu-on Moksri, captain of Thailand's women's volleyball team, reflected on the team's and her own performance, saying the game had more errors than they had practiced.

"We made more mistakes than before; what used to be just 1-2 points now became 3-4. I regret several moments. Although we practiced well, there were many errors during the actual game."

Nonetheless, the Thai star credited everyone on the team.

"I admire all my teammates and the staff who have supported us all along. Today, I am disappointed with my own performance, but I thank my teammates and seniors for playing together, not giving up, and helping us achieve victory."

When asked about the pressure-filled fifth set, Chatchu-on candidly admitted:

"Honestly, in the fifth set, I believed we would not lose because I had confidence in my teammates."

The Thai captain also shared her personal feelings about her leadership role.

"I wasn't pressured by being the captain, but I was more disappointed in myself because the people I love came to watch when I couldn't perform well. That made me sad and brought me to tears."

She explained how she motivated the team on the court.

"I tried to use my voice a lot, wanting the team to feel energized and loud. When on the sidelines, I cheered my teammates as much as possible."

Additionally, Chatchu-on praised the Vietnamese team for their rapid progress.

"Vietnam has developed very quickly. From when we used to always dominate them, now they play much better. I think Thailand must change, have clear goals, and implement processes that help improve the team."

Regarding future plans, the Thai captain revealed:

"I will return to play in the Japanese league, while many of my seniors will move to play abroad. I ask fans to continue supporting us. Wherever we play, we will strive to return and serve the Thailand national team to the best of our ability."
