The president of the Volleyball Association shares the background behind renewing "Coach Park" Park Ki-won's contract and reveals two conditions for the next contract extension.
On 5 Jan 2025 GMT+7, Somporn Chaibangyang, president of the Volleyball Association of Thailand, revealed the background of Coach Park Ki-won's contract renewal. The South Korean head coach of Thailand's men's volleyball team has a contract at least until September next year. Whether to renew it afterward depends on discussions with the International Volleyball Federation and will also consider performance and other competitions.
The president of the Volleyball Association of Thailand stated that regarding Coach Park for the men's team, the association continues to fully authorize Coach Park to work on developing the men's team. The association has reviewed and discussed with its management and is pleased because Coach Park has significantly contributed to the men's team development during his three years with us.
Based on discussions with players and coaching staff, everyone agrees that Coach Park can continue to develop our men's team. Therefore, we agreed with the International Volleyball Federation to allow Coach Park to continue his duties under the federation's development program. This has been confirmed, at least until September next year. Whether to renew beyond that depends on further talks with the federation and evaluations of performance and other competitions.
