Coach Ott Seeks FIVB Support to Develop Thailands Womens National Volleyball Team

Coach Ott Kiattipong Ratchateerangrai revealed he is seeking strong support from FIVB to develop Thailand's women's national volleyball team.

On 21 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Kiattipong Ratchateerangrai, coach of Thailand's women's national volleyball team, disclosed plans to enhance athlete care through sports science. He noted that many players suffer from cumulative injuries, especially those returning from playing in foreign professional leagues since the season began. This has prompted the Volleyball Association to urgently seek effective solutions.

Coach Ott stated, “Regarding the sports science coaching support we are requesting from FIVB, we have planned discussions with the association president and secretary. We want to establish a Sports Science team focusing on Exercise Physiology, which has seen significant developments and changes. FIVB is fully supporting us by covering expenses, and the association president is also handling costs. Further negotiations are needed.”

Additionally, Coach Ott spoke about personnel development: “Recently, we sent coaching staff to observe and assist Aranmare Yamagata as part of a collaborative agreement. This is a positive sign for developing our staff, including coaches and sports science teams. We are not limiting ourselves to Japan; we are also engaging with other teams. Currently, we are coordinating with European teams.”

Regarding the 2026 schedule for Thailand's women's volleyball team, it will be demanding from mid-year with the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) through to the Asian Games at year-end. Therefore, body care, recovery, and injury prevention based on sports science have become critical factors for the team's readiness and long-term sustainability.
