Volleyball Association President Announces Clear Selection Criteria for Thailand Womens National Volleyball Team Camp

Sompornchai Bangyang, President of the Volleyball Association, revealed clear selection criteria for calling players into the Thailand women's national volleyball team camp.

On 7 Apr 2026, the Volleyball Association of Thailand prepared for the year's major women's volleyball competitions by calling players to training and selection on 8 Apr 2026 at 3:00 p.m., at the Sports Science Center, 3rd floor, Sports Authority of Thailand. This is to prepare the team for important events including the Volleyball Nations League 2026 (VNL 2026) and the SEA V.League.

Recently, Sompornchai Bangyang, President of the Volleyball Association of Thailand, stated about this matter: “The women's team list is as shown. Our selection is based on two main aspects: first, performances in the recently concluded Thailand League, and second, our main players competing overseas. We have called up over 30 players from these groups.”

“Additionally, we are giving opportunities to some players, such as 'Song' or 'Bumbim' or those currently injured. We will give them chances because we have time. Actually, we are not only thinking about the short term like the VNL; we are also considering the SEA V.League, the Asian Championship, and the Asian Games.”

“Therefore, the players called in the initial phase will be those most ready for the VNL. Afterwards, we will continue to monitor progress and give opportunities to those who improve. In cases of injury, we will bring in the healthiest players to participate in each competition phase appropriately.”

“So, we will select about 30 players, but the actual training squad at each stage will be about 20 players, likely not exceeding 24. The principle is around 20 players to ensure everyone can train fully during each period.”
