Coach Ot, Kiattipong Ratchatawornkrai, head coach of Thailand's women's volleyball team, and Pornpun Ketprapap, the team's setter captain, spoke openly after losing to China in the second match of the VNL.
Following the Thai women's national volleyball team's 2-3 set loss to the "Dragon Ladies" of China's women's national volleyball team, with scores of 14-25, 26-24, 19-25, 25-23, 7-15, in the "FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League 2026" Week 1, Match 2.
After the game, Coach Ot, Kiattipong Ratchatawornkrai, said, "Today, everyone tried very hard and was determined. I know everyone wanted to win, but sometimes we performed well in the sets we won and gained confidence in what worked for us."
"However, in some sets where we were less successful, there were technical issues. Everyone has learned to adapt well. The Thai team fought hard with their defense, but China adjusted their strategy effectively, focusing on their main players who play decisively and firmly. Playing against a tall and strong Chinese team today will be beneficial for the next two matches."
Meanwhile, "Captain Poo," Pornpun Ketprapap, said, "Today, what we said about developing and correcting our play actually happened on the court. I believe the younger players will gain more confidence in upcoming games."
As for "Nuknik" Natthnicha Jaisin, a promising setter, she said, "I really feel regretful. It should have been ours, or at least the fifth set should have been closer. But in the fifth set, they were more decisive than us, and we have to accept that. We made several mistakes and saw many things during this long game."
The Thailand women's national volleyball team will next play in the "FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League 2026" Week 1, Match 3 against Belgium's women's national volleyball team on 6 June at 14:00 Thailand time.
