Belgium Coach Speaks Frankly After Victory Over Thailand in VNL 2026 Womens Volleyball

Chris Vannsnik, coach of Belgium's women's volleyball team, shared his thoughts after defeating Thailand in the VNL 2026 tournament.

Following the match where Thailand's women's volleyball team led 2-0 sets but failed to maintain their advantage, they narrowly lost to Belgium 2-3 sets, with scores of 25-20, 25-22, 23-25, 22-25, 14-16, in the third match of the 2026 Volleyball Nations League.

After the game, Belgium coach Chris Vannsnik said, “This match was filled with many emotions. I think it was a good example for us because our wins in the VNL aren't often 3-0 sweeps; most victories come after fighting to the very end.”

“In the third set, when we were down 13-17, I told the team this wasn’t the time to give up but to focus on one point at a time. The players did an excellent job. The substitutes also contributed significantly. Everyone fought until the last point, and in the end, we deserved this victory.”

Vannsnik also praised Pauline Martin, who scored a match-high 40 points: “Pauline took on many responsibilities today and performed exceptionally. We’ve worked hard with her, and this was a nearly perfect match for her. However, we are a team where everyone matters. Of course, I’m very happy when Pauline scores 40 points, but this win belongs to the whole team.”

For the VNL 2026 Week 1, Match 4, Thailand's women's volleyball team will face the Czech Republic on Sunday, 7 June, at 10:30 a.m. Thai time.
