Agree or not? "Thaddao" reveals three reasons why the Thailand women's volleyball team lost to Ukraine and has yet to win in VNL 2026.
On 18 June 2026, Nan Thaddao Nukjaeng, a key attacker of the Thailand women's national volleyball team, gave an interview after the first match of the second round of the 2026 FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League (VNL) at the Indoor Stadium Huamark, Bangkok.
The Thailand women's volleyball team narrowly lost to Ukraine 2-3 sets (23-25, 25-19, 26-28, 25-22, 10-15), earning 3 points but marking their fifth consecutive defeat in VNL 2026. They currently rank 17th on the standings, risking relegation.
Nan Thaddao revealed three main reasons for Thailand's loss to Ukraine: conceding points early in the fifth set, falling behind 0-6; Ukraine's strong blocking; and Thailand making more errors.
Nan Thaddao said, "There were just a few errors in the fifth set. We started slowly and poorly, which made it hard to catch up. Falling behind 0-5 was tough, but towards the end, we tried to close the gap. When I went in, I told everyone to help each other; we haven't given up yet, even though the score difference was large."
"We never underestimated Ukraine. When they played Japan, they also had a long match (Ukraine lost 1-3 in the first round). I think Ukraine's blocking is very strong. Today, we were blocked many times. We played according to our practiced system, but our timing and errors were probably more than theirs."
Next, the Thailand women's volleyball team will play their second match of the second round in VNL 2026 against Bulgaria, ranked 20th in the world, on Thursday, 18 June at 20:30.
