Thai women's volleyball team celebrates latest good news ahead of meeting Japan in VNL 2026 Round 3, Match 2.
On 9 July 2026, the Volleyball Association of Thailand announced the latest readiness update for the Thai women's national volleyball team before their match against Japan in the 2026 Women's Volleyball Nations League (VNL 2026) Round 3, Match 2, held in Osaka, Japan, today at 17:20.
Recently, Pomphan Kerdphrach, the key setter, has returned to training after being unable to play in the first match yesterday due to illness. Thailand lost to the United States 0-3 sets, with scores of 21-25, 18-25, and 20-25.
Thailand's team practiced for one hour in the morning before facing Japan this evening. Although the session was light—focused on movement, serving, and receiving—it was a positive sign as main setter Pomphan Kerdphrach recovered from food poisoning and rejoined team practice.
Meanwhile, rising setter Sarah Ankomah arrived in Osaka early this morning (local time). Coach Aot Kiattipong Ratchakriangkrai plans to adjust tactics based on the situation.
In their most recent VNL 2025 encounter, Thailand lost 2-3 to Japan in Round 2 in Hong Kong, despite leading 2-0 in sets initially.
