Latest world ranking for Thailand's women's volleyball team after defeating Japan to reach the Asian Championship final includes some disappointing elements.
On 29 August 2026, the latest world ranking for Thailand's women's volleyball team was released following their victory over Japan in the 2026 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship semifinals held in Tianjin, People's Republic of China.
The Thailand women's national volleyball team defeated Japan 3-1 sets, with scores of 25-21, 25-20, 20-25, 25-20, becoming the first team to advance to the final of the 2026 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship.
This performance earned the Thai women's volleyball team an additional 13.97 ranking points, increasing from 206.37 to a total of 220.34 points, but they still remain 17th in the world rankings.
The reason is that Belgium, ranked 16th globally, still has 221.73 points, just 1.39 points ahead of Thailand, which keeps Thailand's world ranking at 17th.
