Thailand Set to Host Womens Volleyball Nations League 2027 with Two Options, Says Somporn

Thailand is preparing to host the 2027 Women's Volleyball Nations League, considering two options.

On 1 September 2026, Thailand is set to host the Women's Volleyball Nations League (VNL 2027), with two key options planned to increase opportunities for Thai volleyball fans to watch world-class matches at home again.

Mr. Somporn Chaibangyang, president of the Volleyball Association of Thailand, revealed, "Next year, Thai women's volleyball has two major events: the VNL and the World Championship. These are part of preparations for the 2028 Olympics. Both events will allow the new generation to replace the current players as preparation for the future in Los Angeles."

"Initially, we have two approaches: first, to host week two; second, to host the finals. We understand that Macau has signed the contract for the finals, but Volleyball World said if we are interested, they will negotiate with Macau on our behalf. We are currently deciding and will need to consult with the Minister of Tourism and Sports. Support is especially sought from the National Sports Development Fund. I understand the Minister is already supportive, saying that international events popular with the public and with large audiences will receive backing."

The last time Thailand hosted the finals was in 2024, while in the most recent year, 2026, Thailand hosted week two.
