Coach Ott Focuses on Four Key Areas as Thailands Womens Volleyball Team Pursues First Asian Games Gold in 2026

Pursuing their first gold medal, "Coach Ott" focuses on four key areas before Thailand's women's volleyball team heads to the 2026 Asian Games.

On 4 September 2026, Coach Ott Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai, head coach of Thailand's women's national volleyball team, revealed the preparation plan for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

The Thailand women's volleyball team departed last night to train in Fukuoka, Japan from 4-13 September 2026, ahead of the Asian Games from 16-22 September 2026. They are placed in Group C with Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, and Chinese Taipei.

The four areas Coach Ott is focusing on with the Thai women's volleyball team in Japan to chase their first Asian Games gold are as follows.

1. Warm-up match schedule

"We signed an MOU with Japan to facilitate our training preparations. We will play warm-up matches against the Japanese league champion team, the Saga Hisamitsu Springs club, coached by Toi Hatthaya Bamrungsuk. On 6 September there will be a training match, followed by an official match on 12 September."

"After that, we'll assess readiness, enter competition around 13 September, with matches starting on 16 September."

2. Physical condition

"While training there, we must prepare in all aspects, including physical health. Since we have changed locations, we need to look after the athletes' health and fitness. We did not train for three days after returning due to many activities, so we will train there to build strength and endurance."

3. Mental condition

"At the same time, we need to recover in some areas and maintain good mental health, avoiding excessive pressure and stress. We must also balance the team. Since the Asian Games roster is limited to 12 players, we have to manage this carefully."

4. Planning and opponent analysis for the 12-player roster

"We have planned with the coaching staff and sent competition schedules indicating our first-round and possible second-round opponents. The competition groups have changed since the Asian Championship."

"In the first round, we are in the same group as Taipei and need to study the playing styles of Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan."

"Regardless, we must keep the athletes in good health without injuries since our goal is to win a medal at the Asian Games. This will not be easy because the hosts, Japan, China, South Korea, Indonesia, and other teams are all well prepared."

"We believe we must be fully ready physically, mentally, technically, and tactically with the best game plan. The 10 days of preparation there should be highly beneficial for our team."
