Cyber police and Udon Thani investigators joined forces to raid and dismantle the "Boss Bomb" online gambling network, which used restaurants and coffee shops as fronts while operating as bases managing the gambling system, seizing assets worth more than 50 million baht.
At 14:00 on 5 Jun 2024 GMT+7 at the Udon Thani Provincial Police Headquarters, Police Major General Jittipon Polpruksa, Commander of the Technology Crime Suppression Division 4, Police Colonel Chakaj Tiamwong, Deputy Commander of Udon Thani Provincial Police, Police Colonel Suksan Paoin, Commander of Division 3, Technology Crime Suppression Division 4, Police Colonel Panphet Laokamnuengphet, Commander of the Investigation Division, Udon Thani Provincial Police, and Police Lieutenant Colonel Akkaphon Wongrittiwan, together with officers from Technology Crime Suppression Division 4 and Udon Thani Provincial Police Investigation Division, held a press conference announcing the arrest of Ms. Waraporn, 25, from Nasawan Subdistrict, Mueang District, Bueng Kan Province, and Mr. Jirapath, 36, from Pong Puey Subdistrict, Mueang District, Bueng Kan Province. They face charges of jointly organizing illegal online gambling and money laundering, with assets seized exceeding 50 million baht.
Evidence seized includes over 30 items of computers and mobile phones, 50 bankbooks and ATM cards belonging to others, 200,000 baht in cash, and four cars. Further investigation led to seizing assets belonging to Mr. Akkaradech, aka Boss Bomb, 38, from Sam Phrao Subdistrict, Mueang Udon Thani District, owner of the online gambling business and administrator behind a network of more than 100 online gambling websites nationwide. Authorities confiscated eight luxury cars, various jewelry, 14 firearms, land in downtown Udon Thani valued over 10 million baht, and numerous other valuables believed to have been acquired through illegal activities.
This follows Technology Crime Suppression Division 4's expansion of arrests related to online gambling sites, which revealed that Mueang Udon Thani District was a hub for developing online gambling software. They coordinated with Udon Thani Provincial Police Investigation Division to deploy forces using warrants from the Udon Thani Provincial Court to raid six locations linked to the online gambling network in Mueang Udon Thani early on 5 Jun 2024 GMT+7. These locations were fronts—restaurants, coffee shops, and web programming offices—operated by Mr. Akkaradech, aka Boss Bomb.
However, he secretly developed and sold online gambling websites to networks across the country, managing over 100 sites and receiving a percentage of earnings as administrator. These online gambling operations circulate over 500 million baht and have been expanding nationwide for about two years. When police conducted the raid, Mr. Akkaradech escaped before officers could apprehend him, but they arrested Ms. Waraporn and Mr. Jirapath, 36, from Mueang District, Bueng Kan Province, his trusted aides.
Police plan to continue asset seizures related to the case and are gathering evidence to request arrest warrants from the Udon Thani Provincial Court to pursue Mr. Akkaradech, aka Boss Bomb, and remaining accomplices to face legal proceedings. Authorities believe he has not fled the country.
During interrogation, Ms. Waraporn and Mr. Jirapath, the left and right hands of "Boss Bomb," stated they worked at his restaurant fronts, but their actual duties were managing the online gambling system and withdrawing cash from accounts designated for all types of online gambling. They handed the cash to Boss Bomb and managed bookkeeping for staff involved in programming, marketing, and administration of the online gambling business. They also oversaw collecting percentage revenues from more than 100 online gambling websites nationwide. They had been performing these roles for about two years until their arrest by police this morning.
