Police Prepare to Search Natpongs Home for Evidence, Issue Summonses to Four Dinner Companions for Statements

The Bang Kruai Police Chief convened a meeting to expedite the investigation into Natpong's case, planning to search his home for evidence and issue summonses to four friends who dined with him and were present at the house the night before the body was discovered, to provide statements.

At 10:30 on 6 Dec 2025 GMT+7, at Bang Kruai Police Station, Nonthaburi, Pol Maj Gen Detrapee Kongdee, Commander of Nonthaburi Provincial Police, Pol Col Kittisak Pongthanarak, Chief of Bang Kruai Police Station, Pol Col Supachai Srisak, Chief of Investigation, Nonthaburi Provincial Police, along with investigators from Provincial Police Region 1, Nonthaburi Police, Bang Kruai Police, and the case officer, held a meeting to review progress on the case of Mr. Natthawut Ponglangka, 35, a reporter and news anchor for a major channel, who was found dead at his residence in Bang Kruai, Nonthaburi, on 30 Nov 2025. After the Bang Kruai investigators sent the body for autopsy at the Institute of Forensic Science, the medical examiner reported to the investigators that a high level of cyanide poison, 1.85 milligrams per liter, was found in the body, causing death.

Pol Col Kittisak Pongthanarak, Chief of Bang Kruai Police Station, revealed that today he called a meeting with all involved officers to discuss case progress. Police are investigating the individuals present in the house on the night of the incident, identifying a total of five people including the deceased. They will be summoned for questioning.

Regarding the plan to search the deceased's home for forensic evidence collection, authorities must wait until the family completes the cremation rites in Chiang Rai province before opening the house for investigation. The investigating officers have coordinated with forensic police to be prepared, so if there is a change in schedule, they can immediately conduct the inspection.

Reports indicate that after police and forensic doctors examined the scene of Mr. Natthawut's death, a close associate returned to the house bringing a packet containing white powder to a renowned medical expert for testing. The test confirmed the powder to be cyanide. The person who delivered the powder asked for the information to remain confidential for the time being.

At the time the forensic institute's doctors informed investigators of cyanide presence in the deceased's body, Dr. Thanakrit Jitraareerat, Secretary to the Minister of Social Development and Human Security, posted a photo of the white powder packet on his personal Facebook, which led to news reports that Mr. Natthawut died from cyanide poisoning. The four friends present at the house on the night of the incident, who were drinking socially, included two women colleagues from the same workplace as the deceased and two men who were close friends.

Most recently, after Pol Maj Gen Detrapee Kongdee, Commander of Nonthaburi Provincial Police, joined the meeting, he ordered the case officer to issue summonses to the four individuals present at the deceased's house who shared the dinner table, to come and give statements. Previously, several phone appointments were made, but no definite time was set as they cited being occupied with the deceased's funeral rites in Chiang Rai.

At 16:00, Pol Lt Gen Wattana Yijin, Commander of Provincial Police Region 1, will travel to Bang Kruai Police Station, Nonthaburi, to convene a meeting with all officers involved in the investigation of Mr. Natthawut's death to review case progress.
