A 43-year-old man stabbed a security guard at a bar host club nine times, leaving him dead in the parking lot outside a famous bar on Rama 2 Road. The deadly fight reportedly began with an argument over a fake amulet, specifically a Luang Pho Pla coin from Wat Kamphaeng.
At 04:30 on 15 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Police Sub-Lieutenant Ratthipok Kaenphithak, deputy investigation officer at Tha Kham Police Station, received a report of a man fatally assaulted at a well-known bar on Rama 2 Road, Samae Dam Subdistrict, Bang Khun Thian District, Bangkok. He and senior officers, including Police Major General Samart Promchat, commander of Metropolitan Police Division 9, Police Colonel Theerachai Dedkhad, deputy commander of the same division, Police Colonel Vichayanon Ekatasang, chief of Tha Kham Police Station, Deputy Superintendent Thanakorn Janrod, deputy investigation chief, forensic officers, Siriraj Hospital forensic doctors, and Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers, promptly arrived at the scene.
The scene was a popular nightlife venue on Rama 2 Road. In the parking lot outside, they found the body of Kittithat Permwaranyu, aka Tat, 36, a security guard at a bar host club opposite the bar where the incident occurred. He was lying on his back wearing a blue short-sleeve T-shirt under a black long-sleeve jacket, and blue jeans. A black holster was attached at his waist. He had multiple stab and slash wounds to his head, neck, and left chest—a total of nine wounds. A .380 caliber pistol and three matching shell casings were collected as evidence at the scene.
Investigation revealed that before the incident, the deceased Kittithat and Witthayathorn Pansai, 30, a waiter at the same bar, who was a junior friend, had a verbal dispute and scuffle with Pawal Sonoworn, 43, a concrete mixer driver and amulet enthusiast, and two associates. The argument centered on a fake amulet—specifically, Pawal accused Witthayathorn of wearing a counterfeit Luang Pho Pla coin from Wat Kamphaeng (Bang Khun Thian area). The confrontation occurred at a casual dining restaurant next to the bar’s parking lot, after the three had finished drinking and were eating before parting ways.
About 15 minutes later, Kittithat arrived at the bar’s parking lot on a white Honda Lead motorcycle, license plate 8 ขส 2733 Bangkok. There he encountered Pawal Sonoworn, who was about to drive away in a bronze-gray Isuzu D-Max Highlander pickup, license plate 1 ฒฌ 8255 Bangkok. Another altercation ensued, during which gunshots—two or three—were heard. Kittithat died at the scene, while Pawal fled by pickup truck.
The investigation officers assigned Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers to transport the deceased’s body to Siriraj Hospital for autopsy.
Later, Pawal Sonoworn, the suspect, injured with a graze gunshot wound on his right leg and knife wounds to his abdomen, drove a pickup truck to surrender to investigators at Tha Kham Police Station, bringing with him a folding knife about 10 inches long, the weapon used in the attack.
The suspect confessed to the crime, stating that the deceased had fired a gunshot that grazed his leg first. He said he wrestled with the victim and used the knife in self-defense.
Pawal was charged with using a knife to fatally wound another person and will be prosecuted according to the law.
