National Police Chief Orders Transfer of Nakhon Si Thammarat Police Commander Amid Allegations of Extortion

The National Police Chief has ordered Pol. Maj. Gen. Kriangsak Nunkliang, Commander of Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Police, to assist the National Police Operations Center to ensure the investigation into extortion allegations is conducted transparently and fairly.

Today (21 December 2025), Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyos Thepjumnong, Assistant Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police and spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police Headquarters, revealed that the police have received reports concerning social media content alleging police officers in Nakhon Si Thammarat province engaged in extortion. This issue has damaged the Royal Thai Police's image and attracted widespread public and societal attention. Recently, Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanpetch, National Police Chief, signed an order transferring Pol. Maj. Gen. Kriangsak Nunkliang, Commander of Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Police, to assist the National Police Operations Center, relieving him from his previous duties. Pol. Maj. Gen. Pornchai Khajornklin, Deputy Commissioner of Provincial Police Region 8, has been appointed acting Commander of Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Police effective today (21 December 2025) until further notice.

This action follows suspicions of police officers' misconduct and unsuitability to hold their current positions. Continuing in their roles could cause harm. The National Police Chief, under the authority of the National Police Act B.E. 2565 (2022) and relevant police regulations, ordered the transfer to ensure the investigation proceeds efficiently, transparently, fairly, and without damage to the service.

The Royal Thai Police spokesperson said the National Police Chief has consistently emphasized maintaining transparency, integrity, and accountability within the organization. The investigation will be fair, and if wrongdoing is confirmed, decisive action will be taken to restore public confidence and trust in the police force.
