Makkasan Police Raid Warehouse of Motorcycle Theft Gang Preparing to Export Bikes to Neighboring Countries

Chief of Metropolitan Police Division 1 demonstrated the success of Makkasan detectives in raiding a warehouse used by a motorcycle theft gang. After the victim filed a complaint on the same day, police seized 10 additional nearly new motorcycles prepared for export to neighboring countries.

At 17:30 on 22 December 2025 GMT+7 at the Metropolitan Police Headquarters, Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam Boonsom, Chief of Metropolitan Police Division, along with Pol. Lt. Gen. Nopasill Poolsawat, Chief of Police attached to the Royal Thai Police Office, Pol. Maj. Gen. Pallop Aermla, Deputy Chief of Metropolitan Police Division, Pol. Maj. Gen. Worasak Phisitbanakorn, Chief of Division 1, Pol. Col. Kamol Numhom, Deputy Chief of Division 1, Pol. Col. Sakya Saengwan, Deputy Chief of Division 1, Pol. Col. Uramphon Khundechsamrit, Superintendent of Makkasan Police Station, Pol. Lt. Col. Thanathip Jitrakanee, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation at Makkasan Police Station, and Pol. Lt. Col. Jaturong Tidnon, Investigation Officer at Makkasan Police Station, together with the Makkasan investigative team, held a press conference.

They announced the arrest of Mr. Phet Kongrat, 36, with evidence of a black Honda PCX 160 motorcycle, license plate 9 ขบ 9142 Bangkok, and seized 10 additional suspicious motorcycles. The arrest took place beside a warehouse on Phutthamonthon Sai 2 Road, Soi 24, Salathammasop Subdistrict, Thawi Watthana District, Bangkok.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam explained that the case originated on 21 Dec 2025 GMT+7 at about 19:50, when the victim, Mr. Jirayu, reported to Makkasan Police Station that on 18 Dec he had purchased a black Honda PCX 160 motorcycle with license plate 9 ขบ 9142, which he had been paying off for six months with monthly installments of 3,380 baht. He parked the bike in the underground parking lot of RCA Block D on Chaturathit Road, Bangkapi Subdistrict, Huai Khwang District, Bangkok. On 21 Dec at approximately 19:00, he discovered the motorcycle had been stolen.

Mr. Jirayu told authorities that his motorcycle was equipped with a GPS tracking device. Police instructed him to activate the GPS via his phone, which showed the location near the front side of a warehouse on Phutthamonthon Sai 2 Road. Investigators and Mr. Jirayu proceeded to the location, where they confirmed the GPS signal was inside a warehouse roofed and enclosed with corrugated metal sheets. They found Mr. Phet Kongrat sitting nearby and took him into custody.

Mr. Phet confessed he was responsible for guarding and managing the warehouse, where several motorcycles were stored. Police searched the warehouse and found the victim’s motorcycle along with 10 other motorcycles without license plates, both new and old. These were seized for further investigation. When questioned about the motorcycles and their documentation, Mr. Phet acted suspiciously and could not provide details about all the motorcycles stored there.

Mr. Phet further stated that at around 20:00 on 21 Dec, a man aged about 36–37 drove a covered pickup truck, brand, color, and license plate unknown, delivering the victim’s motorcycle to him, which he then stored in the warehouse approximately 30 minutes before police and the victim arrived.

Upon further questioning, Mr. Phet said the warehouse and company owner was Mr. Champ, and he was an employee tasked with guarding the premises. After this, the suspect admitted he had participated with others in stealing motorcycles for over a year.

Pol. Col. Sakya, Deputy Chief of Division 1, explained that most motorcycle theft rings in the country operate on orders to export stolen bikes to neighboring countries such as Laos and Cambodia. Previously, Laos was the primary destination. However, the investigators are awaiting statements from those involved to confirm the exact export destination. The group targets specific models and brands, especially Honda Wave, which is in high demand, so riders and owners should exercise caution.

Police will continue expanding the investigation by summoning the logistics company owner for questioning. Initial information indicates the owner is Thai. Authorities have contacted him to meet with Pol. Col. Uramphon, Superintendent of Makkasan Police Station. Whether this case connects to other motorcycle theft networks previously apprehended by Metropolitan Police Division is under investigation, pending further evidence and testimony.

The suspect has been initially charged with theft and receiving stolen goods and was handed over to the Makkasan Police Station for legal prosecution.
