18-Year-Old Man Arrested for Smuggling Over 100,000 Meth Pills on Bus from Mae Sai to Surat Thani

Chiang Rai City Police arrested an 18-year-old man hired to transport over 100,000 methamphetamine pills by bus from Mae Sai to the final destination, Surat Thani Province.

At 16:30 on 22 Dec 2025, at the parking area of Bus Terminal 2, Sombat Tour Bangkok-Chiang Rai, Police Lieutenant Colonel Somchai Prommin, detective chief of Chiang Rai City Police, Police Lieutenant Colonel Sathaprom Mangklart, police lieutenant Sutthinee Hongprayoon, Sub-Lieutenant Tharitwat Rakkana, Corporal Mongkol Damkham, and Sub-Lieutenant Chanon Pinjai jointly arrested Mr. Chalipat Chupong, also known as Payu, 18, a resident of Pak Praek Subdistrict, Don Sak District, Surat Thani Province, while he was riding on the mentioned bus.

He was charged with "selling Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine) by possessing them for sale," with evidence of 10 blocks of blue-labeled 999 meth pills totaling 101,000 pills hidden in a backpack placed under the chassis of the Sombat Tour bus.



During questioning, Mr. Chalipat confessed that Mr. Sahaphap Chumpanuch, also known as Arm, a vehicle mechanic from Don Sak Village, Thong Ao Subdistrict, Don Sak District, Surat Thani, hired him for 25,000 baht to collect methamphetamine at the checkpoint near Bridge 1 in Mae Sai District and deliver it to Surat Thani Province. However, he was caught by Chiang Rai City Police.
