Man Drives Van to Shooting Range, Borrows Gun to Practice, Then Shoots Himself in Front of Instructor Dies in Hospital

A man drove a van into a shooting range and requested to rent a gun for practice before deciding to shoot himself in front of the instructor. He has now died at the hospital.


At 18:05 on 23 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Police Lieutenant Colonel Akkharaphon Siwilai, an investigator at Sakoo Police Station, Phuket, received a report of a person who had shot himself and was critically injured inside a well-known shooting range. Upon arrival, officers found a large pool of blood on the floor between shooting lanes 13 and 14. The injured man had been taken by Sakoo Subdistrict rescue workers to Thalang Hospital but due to the severity of his condition, was transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital.

According to the shooting range staff, before the incident, Mr. Kittipong Chitkul, the injured man, drove a van into the shooting range. He requested to rent a Glock 19 pistol with 10 rounds and a target for 650 baht to practice shooting. Mr. Arkom was the attendant. Mr. Kittipong entered lane 13 to shoot. After firing 9 rounds, he asked the attendant how many rounds remained, and was told one round was left.

After that, Mr. Kittipong turned the gun barrel and shot himself in the head once before collapsing to the floor, suffering a head injury. The range staff immediately called rescue personnel to the scene. The rescue team provided first aid and rushed him to Thalang Hospital. CCTV footage clearly recorded the incident. Investigators inspected the scene and coordinated with forensic officers before contacting the injured man's relatives.

Most recently, at 11:00 on 24 Dec 2025 GMT+7, it was reported that Mr. Kittipong Chitkul has died at the hospital.
