A garbage truck driver pulled a 9mm pistol and shot a neighbor dead. The neighbor's son was injured while trying to intervene. They had frequent arguments, with the victim often scolding the shooter for bringing friends over for loud socializing.
At approximately 22:20 on 23 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Police Lieutenant Colonel Sanit Suwannano, deputy investigation chief of Bang Kaeo Police Station (acting chief), Police Sub-Lieutenant Phongsak Khaonuan, an investigating officer, related police officers, the on-call doctor from Bang Kaeo Hospital, rescue personnel from Phatthalung Charity Foundation, and forensic officials arrived at the scene to investigate a fatal shooting and a serious injury at a house in Tha Madeua Subdistrict, Bang Kaeo District, Phatthalung Province.
At the scene, the body of Sripai Jansawas, 50, the homeowner, was found lying across a motorcycle registered in Songkhla. The body had two fatal 9mm gunshot wounds: one through the left eye exiting the back of the head. Also injured was his son, Anek Jansawas, 23, who was shot in the right buttock and had been taken earlier to the hospital. The suspect, Worongkon Petchmark, 56, was arrested with the 9mm firearm used in the shooting.
Initial investigations revealed that Worongkon, a garbage truck driver for the Tha Madeua Municipality in Bang Kaeo, lived next door to the victim and had frequent arguments with him for over a year. The disputes arose because Worongkon often invited friends over for noisy gatherings, which annoyed the victim. On the day of the incident, Sripai left home on his motorcycle for errands and, upon returning, argued again with Worongkon. Worongkon then grabbed a firearm and shot Sripai dead on the spot. The victim's son, who tried to intervene, was also seriously wounded by gunfire.
Authorities have detained Worongkon for further questioning and will proceed with legal action accordingly.
