At 04:00 GMT+7 on 25 Dec 2025, reports stated that officers from the Bus Terminal Investigation Center and the Investigation Division of Metropolitan Police Division 2 detained Mr. Songkran Panphu, also known as "Kan Welfare," the suspect in the case of shooting a 24-year-old man who died in a sedan near the Prachachuen tollgate. He was handed over to investigators to proceed according to legal procedures. Initially, he confessed that the incident stemmed from a road rage dispute involving cutting off vehicles.
Police have charged him with "intentional homicide, attempted murder, possession of firearms and ammunition without permission, carrying a firearm in a city, village, or public place without a license, and not under urgent or necessary circumstances according to the situation, as well as discharging explosives in a city, village, or community without cause."
Later, forensic officers collected fingerprint evidence and checked for gunpowder residue, conducting a crime scene reenactment based on the confession to support the case file before placing the suspect in custody. This afternoon, Police Major General Siam Boonsom, Metropolitan Police Chief, will hold a press conference at the Traffic Police Division at 13:00 GMT+7.
