Police Chief Kriang Clarifies 30 Million Baht Chair Purchase Allegation, Affirms Promotion Based on Seniority and Top Drug Enforcement Record

Police Chief Kriangsak, Commander of Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Police, clarified the issue of paying 30 million baht to purchase a chair, affirming that his promotion is based on seniority and being the country's top drug suppression officer. He plans to sue the discrediting group and said the matter does not undermine his work motivation.

On 25 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Pol. Maj. Gen. Kriangsak Nunkliang, Commander of Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Police, gave an interview regarding rumors suggesting he used 30 million baht to secure the commander position. He firmly stated that these reports are completely untrue.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Kriangsak explained that he has served as Deputy Commander for eight years and ranks 32nd in seniority within the Royal Thai Police. According to regulations, he is entitled to automatic promotion, so there is no need to pay a large sum to buy the position as alleged.

He added that he has worked in Nakhon Si Thammarat for over two years with proven results, especially in drug suppression, where he has been ranked number one in the country. The Chawang Police Station also achieved the top rank. He is confident that his superiors appoint based on suitability, expertise in the area, and consistent performance to effectively address problems for the local people.

Regarding the ongoing attacks, Pol. Maj. Gen. Kriangsak views them as attempts to destroy his reputation by the usual groups aiming to discredit him and senior police leadership (the Royal Thai Police Commissioner). He is currently gathering evidence to pursue full legal action against those involved, affirming that this does not diminish his motivation to work.

Concerning complaints about vice activities in Chawang District, Pol. Maj. Gen. Kriangsak stated that he has continuously ordered crackdowns. He requested to provide detailed information to the fact-finding committee.
