The arrest team escorted "Tok Khlong Toei" into the interrogation room at Ta Ruea Police Station. He claimed he did not shoot police, only acted in self-defense. The commander of Metropolitan Police Division 5 confirmed the suspect shows no signs of mental illness.
At 22:30 on 25 Dec 2025 GMT+7, the arrest team led by Pol Maj Gen Chotiwat Luangwilai, Commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau's Investigation Division, Pol Maj Gen Witawat Chinkham, Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 5, along with Pol Col Atchawasit Sribunyamanon, Chief of Investigation Division 3, Metropolitan Police Bureau, Pol Col Rittavee Sukcharoen, Chief of Investigation Division, Metropolitan Police Division 5, and Pol Col Panithi Chaun, Chief of Ta Ruea Police Station, brought Mr. Burin Kaewobchoei, also known as Tok, to Ta Ruea Police Station. Tok was limping due to a grazing gunshot wound on his left leg. Reporters attempted to ask various questions, but the suspect remained silent and did not answer.
Pol Maj Gen Witawat Chinkham, Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 5, revealed after personally interrogating the suspect that Tok initially confessed to all charges, including warrants for shooting and resisting police, and an attempted murder warrant related to a dispute with a neighbor that occurred in April. He was able to give statements normally and showed no signs of mental illness.
Regarding the shooting incident involving police, Tok admitted that he went out to buy food for his mother but happened to see police officers. He then fired a gun to create a path to escape immediately. During his flight, he claimed the gun discharged twice unintentionally. He insisted that the shootings were in self-defense and that he did not intend to flee.
Tok admitted to carrying a firearm at all times since his conflict with neighbors in April. Knowing there were warrants for his arrest, he kept the gun for self-protection only. After the incident, he hired a tuk-tuk from a department store on Rama IV Road to take him to a relative's house on his father's side in Bang Pu, Samut Prakan Province. He told relatives he had a dispute with neighbors and wanted to stay temporarily.
However, the relatives felt uneasy about letting him stay and instead offered him a meal before arranging transportation to a hotel about 15 kilometers away from the relative's home. The relatives were unaware that Tok had committed the crime.
As for two villagers who were caught in the crossfire, they are currently undergoing bullet extraction surgery to determine whether the shots came from police or the suspect. Today, I visited all the injured parties, including police officers and villagers. They are all in good spirits and able to communicate normally. No one sustained serious injuries. Tomorrow (26 Dec), the investigators will continue questioning the suspect throughout the day. They will then take him to the South Bangkok Criminal Court to request detention on Saturday, 27 Dec 2025 GMT+7, for both cases.
