Body of 43-Year-Old Man Found Dead in Well After Daughter Reports Fathers Abduction

The body of a 43-year-old man was found dead in a well, concealed by a cement pipe and bricks, after his daughter filed a report that her father was abducted by a group of men from their home in Surat Thani Province late on 26 Dec before losing contact.

On 28 Dec 2025, the family of Mr. Songpol Thararuk, 43, filed a complaint at Tha Chana Police Station reporting that he had gone missing after a group forcibly took him by car from his home in Tha Chana Subdistrict, Tha Chana District, Surat Thani Province, since late on 26 Dec, and they had been unable to contact him since.

Mr. Songpol's daughter revealed that before the abduction, her father had gone to help with a funeral at the house of an assistant village headman in a neighboring subdistrict. Upon returning home around midnight, five armed men arrived, entered the room where her father was resting, and accused him of stealing amulets from the area where the funeral was held.

The men then took her father from the house. After the incident, she and relatives went to Tha Chana Police Station, thinking the men were police officers arresting her father, but they could not find him. They then filed a missing person report and remained unable to contact him.

Later, Pol. Col. Paisan Sangthep, Deputy Commander of Surat Thani Provincial Police, stated that after receiving the complaint, Pol. Col. Sanan Srisuwan, Chief of Tha Chana Police Station, ordered an investigation. They summoned the accused, who were local administrative officials of Tha Chana District, for questioning. They admitted to taking Mr. Songpol from his home on suspicion of stealing amulets from a house but denied any physical harm. After questioning, when Mr. Songpol denied the accusations, they returned him to his residence.

Investigators reviewed CCTV footage along the route claimed by the local officials to find Mr. Songpol but found nothing. They then summoned the officials again for further questioning and discovered that Mr. Songpol had been abandoned in a well behind the assistant village headman's house, who was among the five men involved in the abduction.

At 21:40 on 28 Dec 2025, Pol. Lt. Col. Jetpon Bupha, investigator at Tha Chana Police Station, accompanied by the Chaiya Provincial Prosecutor, forensic team 8, and doctors from Tha Chana Hospital, arrived at the area behind the assistant village headman's house, Moo 1, Samo Thong Subdistrict, Tha Chana District, Surat Thani Province.

Rescue workers from Kuson Sattha Tha Chana helped pump water and remove obstacles from a roughly 2-meter-wide earthen well, where they found Mr. Songpol's body. He was shirtless, wearing long jeans, lying face down in a curled position with both hands pressed to his chest, weighed down by tree roots, a cement pipe, and covered with bricks blocking the top.

When the daughter and family arrived at the scene, they wept in sorrow, hoping the police would prosecute those responsible to the fullest extent.

Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
