Watchlist Issued for People’s Party MP Candidate Linked to Drug Money Laundering of 20 Billion Baht

The Narcotics Suppression Police raided and arrested two suspects who operated a transportation company as a front to launder over 20 billion baht in drug money. It was discovered that monthly transfers were made to a People’s Party MP candidate in Bangkok. The suspects have been taken into custody for questioning.

At 06:00 on 29 Dec 2025 GMT+7, the Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB) deployed personnel to launch Operation Black Mirror TKP, targeting and dismantling a drug trafficking network at 22 sites with 7 arrest warrants across Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Lopburi, and Trang provinces. Over 120 officers, including special task forces Suppress Piracy Unit, participated in this major anti-drug operation to close out 2025 and welcome 2026. Pol. Lt. Gen. Achayon Kraithong, NSB commander, presided over the deployment and addressed the officers.

One of the search locations was a luxury house in Bang Chueak Nang subdistrict, Taling Chan district, Bangkok. Two suspects were arrested under warrants there—a Thai husband and his Laotian wife. Seized evidence included two luxury cars, one motorcycle, 1 million baht in cash, eleven pistols with ammunition, five rifles, and several luxury dolls.

Pol. Gen. Samran Nualma, Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police and Director of the Police Narcotics Suppression Center, visited the operation site to support officers. He revealed that this operation followed a 11 Feb arrest by the Surasakmontree Task Force of a Laotian drug trafficking group. Subsequent investigation uncovered the group’s involvement in over seven additional drug cases.

Investigations also found the group had registered four transportation companies with intertwined directors. These companies conducted little to no actual business despite being registered as transport firms. Nevertheless, the four companies handled over 20 billion baht in transactions across 50 company accounts, some with monthly turnover reaching 20 million baht. The funds were linked to drug trafficking and used for money laundering.

Consequently, the Narcotics Suppression Police launched investigations and operations to dismantle this drug network at 22 locations in five provinces, targeting seven suspects with warrants on charges of money laundering and drug trafficking. At the residence in Bang Chueak Nang, the husband and wife suspects, who were company directors, admitted to registering the companies but could not explain any business activities as none took place.

Additionally, one of the suspects with an arrest warrant is a People’s Party candidate for a constituency in Thonburi. Police conducted in-depth investigations uncovering evidence of monthly payments from the network to this candidate. The husband and wife suspects admitted to making payments to this politician. Based on this, police submitted evidence to the court to obtain an arrest warrant. The candidate has since been arrested and is being transferred to the Narcotics Suppression Bureau for questioning.

Pol. Gen. Samran added that some of the 22 locations are still under search and evidence collection. This is a comprehensive crackdown aligned with government and Royal Thai Police policies to disrupt drug importation and prevent money laundering from drug networks. In this case, coordination with the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) will proceed to seize assets and pursue money laundering charges.

Investigations revealed the MP candidate had been involved in this drug money laundering network from the beginning, receiving monthly payments. The Narcotics Suppression Police will interrogate all suspects, especially the MP candidate, at their headquarters and hold a press conference at 11:00 today.
