Boonyarit, a People’s Party MP candidate, denies any involvement with the drug gang or receiving monthly payments. He admits to being a director of one of the four companies in this network. He apologized to the party and the public, stating he will no longer run for political office.
Later, at 10:45 a.m. on 29 Dec 2025 GMT+7 at the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, narcotics police took Boonyarit Rarungroj, a candidate for Member of Parliament representing Bangkok’s 33rd district from the People’s Party and a suspect under an arrest warrant for money laundering linked to the drug network, to have his fingerprints taken.
During this time, reporters asked Boonyarit about his arrest. He denied the allegation that he received monthly payments, saying it was untrue and that he had no knowledge whatsoever of the drug network. However, he admitted to being a director of one of the four companies associated with the drug network.
Boonyarit also apologized to the People’s Party and the public, affirming that he was unaware of the facts behind the situation and accepted that he had violated the party’s policy of transparency. He added that he likely would not participate in politics again and said the legal case would require further discussion.
The news team observed that Boonyarit appeared quite fatigued, wearing glasses and a face mask, and he answered all reporters’ questions.
Earlier, after taking the suspect for fingerprinting, the arresting police team gradually brought key evidence related to the case to the Narcotics Suppression Bureau. A press briefing on the operation’s results is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. today.
Further updates will be provided as they become available.
