“Aekwit” of NACC Sends Lawyer to Sue Former Police Colonel Phakphum for False Report and Malicious Prosecution

Aekwit Watchawalaku, a commissioner of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), has authorized his lawyer to present evidence and file a complaint against Police Colonel Phakphum, a former subordinate of Big Joke, after being implicated in accepting a bribe of 246 baht in gold. He insists he has never personally known Phakphum, challenges him to produce evidence, and is ready to fight the case.

At 10:00 a.m. on 29 Dec 2025 GMT+7, at the Central Investigation Bureau complaint center, Aekwit Watchawalaku, a commissioner of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), authorized a team of lawyers to meet investigators at the Central Investigation Bureau to file a criminal complaint against Police Colonel Ekphakphum Phismyai, a former close officer of Police General Surachate Hakparn, on charges of filing a false report and malicious prosecution.

The authorized lawyer revealed that this complaint follows Police Colonel Phakphum's allegation that Aekwit accepted a bribe in gold bars weighing a total of 246 baht. He affirmed that "this allegation is untrue." Aekwit, as a NACC commissioner, has transparently declared his assets, which are verifiable at every stage. Moreover, the selection process to join the NACC is strict and thoroughly scrutinized.

The lawyer added that Police Colonel Phakphum, who is already a suspect in other cases, has reversed his testimony, which appears to be an internal conflict within the police force. The true reason is unknown. It is noted that if an accusation of bribery is made, the accuser must have committed the offense of giving a bribe to an official. If the allegation is false, it constitutes the crime of filing a false report.

"Mr. Aekwit has never possessed gold bars as alleged, has never visited the Southern Association, and importantly, has never personally known Police Colonel Phakphum. They have met only once during an official investigation process," the lawyer said.

Regarding the opposing side's claim of having decisive evidence, today there has been only police statements about a video clip but none presented publicly. Anyone claiming to have such evidence must produce it. If it exists, the legal team affirms they have no concerns and are ready to fight the case to the fullest extent of the law, confident in Aekwit's innocence and the existing evidence.
