
The Police Chief has ordered a mobilization of officers from his command to patrol and assist the public attending the "New Year's Eve 2026 Countdown" events, marking the transition from the old year to the new, at various tourist venues.
At 14:00 on 31 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Police Lieutenant General Nattasak Chaowanasai, the Police Chief, revealed that for tonight's New Year's Eve countdown 2026 event, he has instructed all officers under his command—including the Crime Suppression Division, Special Operations Division, Marine Police, and Highway Police—to patrol and provide assistance to the large number of attendees expected at venues such as Asiatique, ICONSIAM, and CentralWorld. In the provinces, locations include Laem Bali Hai in Chonburi, Koh Phangan in Surat Thani, among others.
Regarding operations, Marine Police will deploy boats to patrol rivers and coastal areas near event sites. The Crime Suppression Division will conduct intelligence gathering and patrols to prevent unforeseen incidents, working alongside the Special Operations Division to mitigate any unexpected events. They will coordinate with local police forces, including the Metropolitan Police and Provincial Police Regions 1-9. Finally, the Highway Police will set up sobriety checkpoints at designated provincial locations to prevent drivers from operating vehicles under the influence after celebrations, thereby ensuring the safety of all road users.
