Police Chief Praises Nationwide Police for Public Safety Efforts During New Year 2026, Reports Over 8,000 Homes Registered for Security

The Police Chief expressed gratitude and praise for police across the country who safeguarded the public in all respects during New Year 2026. He ordered intensified vigilance during the final phase of the extended holiday as people returned home, emphasizing that police remain steadfast in their duties with the goal of public safety.

Today (3 Jan 2026), Police Lieutenant General Yingyot Thepjamnong, Assistant Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police and spokesperson for the office, stated that Police General Kittirat Phanphet, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, thanked and praised all officers nationwide for their sacrifice and strong commitment during the New Year 2026 festival. Their duties covered security, public order, traffic management, and accident reduction, enabling citizens and tourists to celebrate safely and happily.

The police spokesperson said that officers, following the policy to be ready to serve the public and promptly prevent violent incidents, responded professionally to emergencies. Examples include officers from Chokchai Police Station who rescued a woman from a condominium fire, border patrol police who saved a two-year-old girl from drowning, and other cases where officers were injured while assisting citizens, such as a patrol officer from Prachachuen Police Station hit by a vehicle while inspecting homes.

Regarding crime prevention, maintaining order, law enforcement, and facilitating traffic, the Police Chief ordered heightened security measures in public areas and event venues. Police integrated forces to set up checkpoints and roadblocks in a comprehensive network, increasing strict inspections by land, water, and air, and fully monitoring homes registered in the police "deposit your house" program. This year, the Royal Thai Police accepted home registrations until 5 Jan 2026; from 22 Dec 2025 to 1 Jan 2026, a total of 8,159 homes were registered, with officers regularly patrolling and updating information, allowing citizens to travel with peace of mind.

For traffic management and accident reduction during the New Year festival, highway and traffic police in all areas reinforced forces and coordinated systematic traffic flow. They publicized safety reminders urging public cooperation in accident prevention and strict adherence to traffic laws. They intensified crackdowns on key risk factors causing accidents, such as drunk driving, not wearing helmets, and speeding. At the same time, checkpoints also effectively prevented crimes, seizing drugs, firearms, and other illegal acts, blocking criminals who exploit the festival period to commit offenses.

Additionally, the Royal Thai Police spokesperson said the Police Chief instructed officers nationwide to continue caring for the public throughout the New Year festival, especially during the return journey to Bangkok, when traffic congestion is expected at multiple points near the holiday's end. He also urged swift investigation and prosecution of crimes occurring during the festival to build public confidence.

The Police Chief reiterated that all officers must remain resolute in performing their duties firmly in public safety, crime prevention and suppression, facilitating services, and enforcing traffic discipline. The main goal of all measures is to reduce risks that may harm the public in all aspects, including crime and road accidents. The police’s responsibility is to protect the lives and property of the people to ensure everyone’s safety.
