Man Disputes Over Missing Ice, Stabs Employee to Death Woman Injured Trying to Intervene

A man upset about missing ice argued with staff inside a restaurant, eventually grabbing a pocket knife to stab an employee to death. A woman who tried to intervene was also stabbed. Police confirmed the restaurant operated according to its scheduled hours.

At 04:30 on 4 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Police Lieutenant Colonel Phattharakorn Chainoi, an investigator at Bang Phli Police Station, received a report of an assault with three injured persons in front of a restaurant in Village 1, Bang Pla Subdistrict, Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan Province. Along with Deputy Superintendent Thelengkrit Manee-in, they dispatched patrol officers to investigate, control the situation, and coordinated with Ruamkatanyu Foundation rescue personnel to assist the injured.

At the scene, three injured persons were found: two men and one woman, all seriously wounded. One man, Don, 30, a server at the restaurant, had stab wounds—one to the center of his chest and another to his abdomen—and was in critical condition. The other man, Kornanong, 29, suffered swelling and bruises on his face and body. He was the suspect, who was restrained by coworkers and witnesses.

The third injured person was a woman, Warada, 28, who had one stab wound to her abdomen. Medical personnel provided aid and transported all victims to a nearby hospital. Don later died at the hospital. The suspect, Kornanong, was detained by coworkers after the attack.

At the crime scene in front of the restaurant, tables were scattered across the floor. Police found the suspect was carrying four short, pointed knives. All were collected as evidence. The weapon used in the attack is believed to be a short pocket knife about 15 centimeters long, found near the scene.

According to a server at the restaurant, the suspect, whose name was unknown at the time, came to drink at the establishment. Around midnight, when the restaurant was closing, staff began cleaning and watching a football match while guarding the premises. By then, the suspect had already left his table.

Earlier, before closing, the suspect had tried to take ice from his girlfriend's table. She asked if he could request some instead. After that, the suspect left the restaurant. When the staff were clearing bottles from his table, the suspect returned, upset that his beer glass had no ice. An argument over the missing ice ensued. The staff insisted he had not ordered ice initially. The dispute reignited between the suspect and Don, the deceased server. The suspect then retrieved a pocket knife from under a motorcycle seat and stabbed Don until he collapsed. The injured woman was stabbed when she tried to stop the attack.

Police collected evidence at the scene and summoned witnesses for questioning. The suspect was ordered held at the hospital under close guard to prevent escape. Once medically cleared, he will be taken for interrogation and face legal proceedings.

Deputy Superintendent Thelengkrit Manee-in of Bang Phli Police Station confirmed the bar opened and closed on schedule. At the time of the incident, staff were already closing up. The suspect had left after closing but returned to commit the attack. Authorities denied any negligence. They plan to tighten alcohol-serving regulations and increase patrol rounds to prevent future alcohol-related conflicts.
