9 Jan Decision on Whether Big Joke Can Return to Police Force as Supreme Administrative Court Schedules Ruling

On 9 Jan, the fate of Big Joke will be decided—whether he can return to the police force—after the Supreme Administrative Court scheduled the reading of its judgment in the lawsuit against the National Police Chief and associates concerning the suspension order issued in 2024, which was deemed unlawful.

On 5 Jan 2026 GMT+7, the Supreme Administrative Court scheduled the judgment reading for the case filed by Big Joke, Police General Surachate Hakparn, former Deputy National Police Chief, against the National Police Chief, the Police Morality Protection Committee (PMPC), and the Prime Minister—defendants 1 to 3—concerning the suspension order issued on 9 Jan 2026 GMT+7.

In this case, Police General Surachate Hakparn claimed that during his tenure as Deputy National Police Chief, he suffered damage from the National Police Chief's order No. 178/2567 dated 18 Apr 2024, which suspended him pending investigation. He was accused of serious disciplinary violations related to involvement with the online gambling website BNKMASTER, leading to criminal proceedings and an arrest warrant issued by the Criminal Court for conspiracy to commit money laundering. He appealed the suspension order to the PMPC, but the committee dismissed his appeal.

Furthermore, this case has become a notorious controversy in the administrative court, involving allegations of interference in the judicial process by members of the adjudicating panel. Police General Surachate filed criminal complaints against several senior administrative court judges with the Anti-Corruption Criminal Court.
