Tragic news: A police corporal from Chiang Saen Police Station ended his life at a relative's home. His wife arrived at the scene and broke down in tears, revealing that he had been struggling with personal pressures. Meanwhile, the Mae Sai police chief collected evidence for the investigation.
At approximately 15:00, Mae Sai police received a report that a police corporal from Chiang Saen Police Station had used his service pistol to take his own life on a bed at his grandmother's house in Ban Pong Nuea, Village No. 8, Pong Ngam Subdistrict, Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province. Authorities promptly went to the scene.
The scene was a single-story concrete house, in the deceased's grandmother's bedroom. The body of Police Corporal Suchakeer Srikaew, assigned to Chiang Saen Police Station in Chiang Rai, was found lying face up. He wore a long-sleeve khaki jacket and black pants. A 9mm service pistol was found near his right hand. He had a gunshot wound to the right temple, with the bullet passing through to the left temple.
When interviewed, Mrs. Saipan Mooltasri, the deceased's mother, tearfully said her son was from the Lampang 07 police class and had served about 3–4 years. He was well-liked by colleagues and family, with a good personality. Before his death, there were no signs of suicidal intent, though he may have had minor arguments with his girlfriend. He lived with his girlfriend at Mae Pern but sometimes visited his mother at Huay Khrai and occasionally stayed at his grandmother Jan Srikaew’s house. Corporal Suchakeer was affectionate toward his mother and family, which made everyone love him. Before the incident, he visited his mother at Huay Khrai, hugging her tightly and unusually long. Mrs. Saipan also noticed he looked unhappy while helping water vegetables, as if preoccupied.
The grandmother said her grandson arrived that day and they shared a loving hug. He showed no signs of suicidal thoughts and even joked around. Afterward, she went out nearby on an errand. Corporal Suchakeer went into the bedroom. Upon returning, she called out for him repeatedly, assuming he was in the bathroom or using his phone in the bedroom. When she entered the bedroom, she found him lying face up. She called to him and saw he looked pale, so she quickly administered first aid. Noticing a gun beside him, she called for help.
Police Colonel Jiraphat Saksung, chief of Mae Sai Police Station, along with investigators and the detective team, arrived to inspect the scene. They comforted the deceased's wife and mother and planned to conduct a thorough investigation.
The deceased's wife arrived at the scene and broke down crying, whispering to relatives and the deceased's mother that Corporal Suchakeer had been burdened by personal issues. She did not elaborate but said they were trying to resolve these problems together and never expected he would take such a tragic step.
