On 6 Jan 2026 at 10:30 a.m., in the second-floor conference room of the Crime Suppression Division, Central Investigation Bureau, Lieutenant General Trairong Piwan, Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, Police Major General Jaroonkiat Pankaew, Deputy Commander of the Crime Suppression Division, Police Major General Prasong Chalermpan, Commander of the Anti-Corruption Division, and Police Major General Siriwat Deepho, Commander of the Technology Crime Suppression Division 1 and Deputy Police Spokesperson, held a press conference on the bribery case involving a former senior police officer who allegedly gave gold bars totaling 246 baht.
This case originated from a complaint filed on 23 Dec 2025, accusing six suspects of jointly giving property or other benefits (gold bars) to officials holding judicial, prosecutorial, adjudicative, or investigative positions to intentionally induce improper actions or inactions, or to delay duties unlawfully; and jointly offering property or other benefits to state officials to induce improper actions or delays.
The case facts trace back to 31 Aug 2024, when the former senior police officer instructed Mr. S. (name withheld) to deliver two boxes of gold bars weighing a total of 246 baht to Police Colonel Phakphum (the complainant). The gold bars were intended for Mr. A. (name withheld), a commissioner of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), to influence Mr. A., who was responsible for overseeing the investigation involving the former officer and others. The case was under NACC inquiry, and the bribe was intended to secure a decision to dismiss criminal and disciplinary charges. Colonel Phakphum was instructed to record a video during the delivery as evidence.
On 1 Sep 2024, Police Colonel Phakphum, the complainant, delivered the gold bars to Mr. A. through Mr. S., the personal security officer of Mr. A., in the parking lot of an association in the Phutthamonthon area of Bangkok. After receiving the gold bars, during Sep to Nov 2024, Mr. A. summoned the suspects to the NACC office for clarifications and expedited the investigative process.
Subsequently, the subcommittee resolved not to indict the former senior police officer. The investigators then accepted the complaint, conducted a thorough investigation, gathered evidence, and submitted the case file to the NACC on 5 Jan 2025.
The accused are the former senior police officer, aged 55; Mr. A., NACC commissioner, aged 65; Mr. S., aged 70; another Mr. S., aged 45; another Mr. S., aged 47; and another Mr. S., aged 55. The incidents occurred at Ratchadawan Building, 2nd floor, Chan Kasem subdistrict, Chatuchak district, Bangkok, and the parking lot of the Southern Thai Association, Sala Thammasop subdistrict, Thawi Watthana district, Bangkok, on 31 Aug and 1 Sep 2024. Mr. A. is charged with offenses including being a judicial, prosecutorial, adjudicative, or investigative official who solicits or accepts property or benefits unlawfully to act or refrain from acting in his official capacity, whether proper or improper; misconduct causing damage to others; and accepting property unlawfully. Mr. S. is charged with supporting an official in soliciting or accepting property unlawfully.
The former senior police officer and three others are charged with jointly giving property or other benefits (gold bars) to officials holding judicial, prosecutorial, adjudicative, or investigative positions to induce improper actions or delays, and jointly offering property or benefits to state officials to induce improper actions or delays.
In preliminary questioning, the suspects denied all charges.
