Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Clarifies Social Criticism, Affirms Big Tor Case Progressing Faster than Big Joke Case

The Deputy Secretary of the NACC clarified public criticism, affirming that the 'Big Tor' case is moving quickly and is already in the investigation phase by the NACC. In contrast, the 'Big Joke' case is much slower and still under examination. He pointed out that some people listen to influencers who repeat the same claims, emphasizing that this is a theory used by scammer groups who spread false information daily until people believe it as true.

On 6 Jan 2026 GMT+7, at the 2nd floor meeting room of the Crime Suppression Division, Central Investigation Bureau, Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Piwan, Deputy Secretary of the NACC, Pol. Maj. Gen. Jaroonkiat Pankaew, Deputy Commander of the Crime Suppression Division, Pol. Maj. Gen. Prasong Chalapant, Commander of the Anti-Corruption Division, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Siriwat Deepor, Commander of the Cyber Crime Division 1, acting as the Police spokesperson, held a press conference clarifying facts about the case involving a former senior police officer bribed with gold bars weighing a total of 246 baht.

The reporters noted that at some points during the event, they asked about the status of the cases. The 'Big Joke' case, considering how far it has progressed, they asked about the status of the 'Big Tor' case. The 'Big Tor' case, Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Piwan, Deputy Secretary of the NACC, said, "Let me explain. If you compare the two cases, since cases involving officials must be sent to the NACC, in the 'Big Tor' case, there was a complaint filed. The Royal Thai Police forwarded the case to the NACC. After a review process, the NACC found sufficient information to order an investigation. If I recall correctly, there are two investigations ordered for the 'Big Tor' case. Recently, a reporter asked me why the 'Big Joke' case is slower than the 'Big Tor' case. I think you misunderstand. The 'Big Tor' case has already passed the NACC's review process and investigation has been ordered. I must say that the 'Big Tor' case has evidence as presented by lawyer Tum in the complaint and other related complaints. The evidence, as reported in the news, has been reviewed and investigation ordered.

Regarding the case of Deputy Surachet, with due respect, including the Minnie BNK and asset declaration cases, the NACC is still examining them. So, who is faster or slower? Don't just listen to influencers repeating the same claims. This is the echo chamber effect used by scammer groups who repeat false information daily until people believe it as truth. In fact, the 'Big Tor' case is progressing quickly. The investigation has already been ordered and is now with the NACC. Meanwhile, the 'Big Joke' case, including the most recent matter which was just sent yesterday, but other parts were sent over two years ago, is still under review and has not yet reached the investigation phase. "So, who is faster or slower? Now you have the answer: the 'Big Joke' case is the one that is slow, very slow," Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Piwan, Deputy Secretary of the NACC, concluded.
