Police held a press conference revealing video and audio evidence implicating former senior police officer "Big Joke" in a bribery case involving 246 baht of gold bars.
On 6 Jan 2026 at 10:30 a.m., at the 2nd floor meeting room of Pracha Arak Building, Crime Suppression Division (CSD), Royal Thai Police Headquarters on Phahonyothin Road, Pol.Lt.Gen. Trairong Piwpan, Deputy Inspector General of the Royal Thai Police, Pol.Maj.Gen. Jaroonkiat Pangkaew, Deputy Commander of the CSD, along with investigative officers, held a press conference to present video evidence related to the "Big Joke" bribery case involving 246 baht of gold bars given to National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) officials.
The footage showed a man counting gold bars and placing them into a bag to hand over to independent organization officials inside a black van claimed to be an official vehicle. The man in the clip counting and delivering the gold bars is Pol.Col. Phakphum, a former close officer of the ex-senior police officer, who brought the evidence to the police.
Pol.Lt.Gen. Trairong, Deputy Inspector General, stated that the investigative team proceeded after receiving evidence from the complainant, Pol.Col. Phakphum. They verified witnesses, locations, and electronic evidence, finding consistency and reliable proof. This led to filing charges against the offenders as presented. The verifiable facts are:
1. The over 200 baht of gold bars exist, confirmed by investigations into their origin or the gold shop, with witnesses (seller) and evidence (receipts). Because the gold set has special characteristics, the seller could recall selling it to the group accused of offering the gold bar bribe.
2. This gold set was indeed in the hands of the complainant, Pol.Col. Phakphum, who recorded video evidence of it.
3. The gold was actually delivered at the association; the recipient was the personal security officer of the independent organization’s official. The vehicle that arrived at the association to receive the gold from Pol.Col. Phakphum was indeed the official car of a senior figure in the independent organization.
All these facts are true. It is the right of the accused to defend themselves in court, but the entire matter should be resolved through the judicial process.
