The Corrections Department clarified the health situation of "Lawyer Tum" following reports that he had become severely thin and required sedatives. They confirmed his physical condition is stable, he is not suffering from any serious illness, and he experiences occasional stress, which is managed under psychiatric care.

On 6 Jan 2026 GMT+7, the Corrections Department issued a statement responding to media reports about Mr. Sittra Biebangkert, known as "Lawyer Tum," who is detained on fraud charges. The reports stated that his physical and mental health had significantly deteriorated, describing him as emaciated and mentally fragile, relying on sedatives to aid sleep.

Regarding this, the Corrections Department received a report from Bangkok Remand Prison stating that Mr. Sittra Biebangkert, or "Lawyer Tum," remains under their custody. He has been held there since 8 Nov 2024 GMT+7 during appeal proceedings. His general physical condition is stable without any serious illnesses. He has a pre-existing condition of high blood lipid levels, which is being continuously monitored by medical staff. Mentally, he experiences occasional stress and is under close psychiatric supervision.

The Corrections Department continues to oversee all inmates in strict accordance with human rights principles and the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for inmate management. Prisons and correctional facilities comply fully with established regulations. The department prioritizes both the physical and mental health of inmates by providing public health services, medical treatment, mental health assessments, and appropriate quality of life and welfare care.
