The case involves Gong Gaopeng, a 30-year-old Chinese man, who robbed 35-year-old Chinese real estate sales agent Ms. Yang Huang by threatening her with scissors and restraining her with adhesive tape from head to toe. He then forced her to transfer money via the WeChat app, obtaining over 31,000 baht, along with one mobile phone, as previously reported.
At 12:00 today (12 Jan 2026), Pol. Col. Natthapon Phongsuksakul, Superintendent of Nong Prue Police Station, together with investigation teams from Nong Prue Police, Chonburi Provincial Police, and the Immigration Police of Chonburi, held a meeting to plan and coordinate the investigation and apprehension of the suspect, including reviewing CCTV footage to trace the perpetrator's escape route.
Recently, the Pattaya Provincial Court approved the issuance of an arrest warrant for Gong Gaopeng, number 15/2569, on charges of robbery using violence or threats of immediate violence to facilitate theft or the carrying away of property, committing the crime at night with a weapon, and unlawful confinement.
Gong Gaopeng became a suspect under the arrest warrant for robbery. Records show he entered Thailand on 23 December 2025 with a 60-day tourist visa and stayed in the Yannawa area of Sathorn district, Bangkok. Investigations revealed the suspect initially contacted the victim, a real estate sales agent, to negotiate the purchase of a house priced at 3 million baht via the company's application on 8 January. They first met near a well-known shopping mall on Pattaya Second Road on Saturday, 10 January. On the night of the incident, he lured the female sales agent to view the actual house before committing the crime.
A reporter spoke with Ms. Dear (a pseudonym), 32, a close friend and coworker of the victim, Ms. Yang Huang, also known as "Wendy." She said the victim has been working in Thailand since 2024 and remains fearful. The victim still has visible injuries from the assault. Their initial contact regarding the house sale was on 8 January, and at first, the victim was not suspicious. Suspicion arose when the suspect refused to view the house during the day, citing travel plans. On the day of the crime, after viewing the house, the victim was attacked just as she was leaving the gated community.
The stolen property initially consisted of a WeChat transfer of 6,996 yuan, approximately 31,000 baht, and one mobile phone. The victim hopes the police will quickly apprehend the criminals and bring them to justice.
