Court Denies Bail for Three Members of Pornprapa Family in MORE Stock Case

In the latest MORE stock case, the court denied bail for three members of the Pornprapa family, citing the high value of damages involved and the fact that all three previously failed to attend scheduled prosecutor appointments, leading to a belief they might flee.

On 13 Jan 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that Mr. Ekapat Pornprapa, Mr. Athipat Pornprapa, and Ms. Oraphin Pornprapa went to meet special case prosecutors after coordination with special case investigators confirmed they would appear in person that day.

Subsequently, prosecutors detained all three and filed charges with the Criminal Court. After reviewing the case, the court accepted the filing under case number A.67/2569 and questioned the three defendants, explaining the charges until understood. The defendants all pleaded not guilty and chose to contest the case. The court scheduled a joint evidence inspection for both parties on 16 March at 09:00 GMT+7.

Thereafter, their lawyers submitted a bail petition with a security deposit of 5 million baht each, requesting temporary release during the trial.

Most recently, the court weighed the severity of the charges and the defendants’ conduct, deciding a bail hearing was unnecessary as there was sufficient evidence for judgment. Regarding the bail request, the court noted that the offenses undermine investor confidence in the stock market and involve significant damages. Given the seriousness and the defendants’ prior failure to meet prosecutorial summonses—resulting in arrest warrants issued by the court—the circumstances reasonably suggest the defendants might flee if released. Therefore, bail was denied and the petition rejected.
