Suspect Arrested for Gold Snatching at Ram Inthra Mall Leaves Shoes Behind

Authorities arrested a delivery rider who committed a gold snatching at a store inside a mall in the Ram Inthra area. He left his sandals behind at the scene. The suspect admitted to being in debt from football gambling and was previously imprisoned for a gold robbery in 2023, having been released less than a year ago.

In this case, the suspect snatched a gold necklace from a store inside a mall in the Ram Inthra area, Anusawari subdistrict, Bang Khen district, Bangkok. The store is located at the far end of the mall, near the back exit. According to a sales staff member, the suspect was a stocky man wearing a short-sleeved purple T-shirt, black long pants, and sandals. He pretended to look at one-baht gold necklaces, asking the staff to show him five different designs but said none were satisfactory. Then he asked to see a two-salang gold ring. Taking advantage of the moment, he grabbed all the gold and ran out quickly through the door, leaving his sandals behind.

Subsequent review of CCTV footage showed the suspect arrived on a pink Yamaha Fino motorcycle, parking less than 20 meters from the gold store in the mall’s side parking lot. He entered the store and committed the theft in under two minutes before fleeing through the front exit onto Ram Inthra Road. He then got on the motorcycle and escaped heading outbound on Ram Inthra Road. The incident occurred at 18:45 on 13 Jan 2026 GMT+7.

The latest update: at 05:30 on 14 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Police Colonel Athadee Sermsuk, Superintendent of the Investigation Division, Metropolitan Police Division 2, along with Police Colonel Anan Warasart, Superintendent of Bang Khen Police Station, and other senior officers led a joint operation involving the Metropolitan Police Bureau’s investigation center, Division 2, and Bang Khen Police to arrest 25-year-old Sutthichai Panin. The suspect was caught at the entrance of a monastery in Soi Mit Maitri, Intersection 7, Nimmit Mai area, Khlong Sam Wa district, Bangkok. Confiscated evidence included four gold necklaces weighing four baht and one two-salang gold ring.

During interrogation, the suspect confirmed he was the man in the CCTV footage and admitted to snatching the gold necklaces and ring. After the theft, he pawned one gold necklace at a gold shop in Lam Luk Ka, Khlong 2, Pathum Thani province, receiving 63,000 baht. He then abandoned the motorcycle and was waiting for a ride via a mobile app to his home in Soi Ram Inthra 8 when police arrested him.

The suspect further stated that he committed the crime to obtain money to repay football gambling debts, as creditors were constantly demanding payment. This led him to target the gold shop inside the mall.

A background check revealed the suspect had previously committed a gold necklace snatching at a gold shop in Chok Chai 4 area, Bangkok, in 2023. He was arrested and sentenced to over two years in prison, being released in March 2025. After release, he worked as a driver for ride-hailing apps but earned poorly and accumulated football gambling debts.

Initially, the arrest team took the suspect and the seized items to Bang Khen Police Station for further legal proceedings.
