
Authorities have detained one suspect for questioning and further investigation to identify others possibly involved in the gas station bombing in Yala city after DNA was found at the blast site.
In the incident, 3 to 4 assailants wearing disguises, hats, and face coverings, fully armed, infiltrated a PTT gas station on Route 418 (inbound to Yala city), Tha Sap subdistrict, Mueang Yala district, Yala province, to plant a bomb. The attack caused property damage and occurred in the early morning of 11 Jan 2026.
As of 14 Jan 2026, security officials conducted a detailed investigation at the scene, collecting various evidence including cigarette butts found around the blast site, which were sent for forensic analysis.
The forensic results revealed that the DNA found is linked to Mr. Sulaiman Lenoo, 39, residing in village 4, Ban Sako, Tha Sap subdistrict, Mueang Yala district, Yala province.
Later, in the late night of 13 Jan 2026, investigative teams from the security and special cases units, the Yala Provincial Police Investigation Division, Task Force 91 Police, and the Special Operations Unit stationed in Yala conducted an operation at an unnumbered house in village 4, Ban Sako, Tha Sap subdistrict, Mueang Yala district, Yala province.
During the operation, officers located the target, Mr. Sulaiman Lenoo, recorded an official report, and summoned him to the interrogation unit at the 41st Ranger Battalion headquarters in Wang Phaya subdistrict, Raman district, Yala province for questioning and further investigation to identify others involved, following legal procedures.
Authorities have intensified security measures in the area and are conducting a thorough fact-finding process to ensure confidence and safety for local residents continuously.
