The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has accepted the money laundering case involving Mr. Chonnapat Naksua, Songkhla MP candidate from the Kla Tham Party, related to online gambling, as a special case. It is preparing to interview witnesses and gather evidence.
Regarding the matter, the Department of Special Investigation, through the Narcotics Case Division, sent a letter dated 14 Jan, reference Yoth 0823/0022, notifying Mr. Atchariya Ruangrattanapong (the complainant) of the acceptance of the case as a special case, following his complaint letter dated 8 Jan 2024. The letter stated that the Director-General of the DSI approved accepting the case against Mr. Chonnapat Naksua and associates on money laundering charges. The Technology and Information Case Division was assigned to handle the investigation as special case number 150/2568 under the Special Case Investigation Act B.E. 2547 (2004) and its amendments.
On 15 Jan 2026, Pol. Lt. Col. Waranan Srilam, Director of the Consumer Protection Case Division and spokesperson for the DSI, confirmed that the department has accepted the money laundering case based on online gambling as special case 150/2568. This investigation expands from financial trails discovered in special case 5/2566, concerning the online gambling website “AK47MAX” at www.ak47max.com, an original DSI special case handled by the Narcotics Case Division.
Additional reports indicate that this special money laundering case relates to special case 5/2566, which the Narcotics Case Division handled involving online gambling and money laundering. Key suspects are a married couple: Mr. Kanchanok Limjariyakul (also known as Pao) and Ms. Thipawan Phusanga, owner of the well-known restaurant “Hoi Ja Aroi Jee” in the Kaset Nawamin area, who own four AKBET gambling websites. During that investigation, no clear evidence was found linking the couple's financial transactions directly to Mr. Chonnapat Naksua. The case file was thus forwarded to prosecutors for charges against over 40 suspects. Currently, the DSI Director-General has assigned the Technology and Information Case Division to expand the financial investigation from case 5/2566 into this special money laundering case 150/2568, as some suspicious financial evidence appears connected to Mr. Chonnapat Naksua, Songkhla MP candidate for the Kla Tham Party. The investigation is ongoing to gather evidence and interview witnesses. If clear wrongdoing is established, the special case prosecutors will press charges accordingly.
