Police Lieutenant General Thinkorn Rangmat, Deputy Commander of the Technology Crime Suppression Division, revealed that investigators are rapidly expanding the financial trail of the online gambling website “nakarin789,” which is linked to Pond, a People's Party MP candidate. The focus is especially on money transfers associated with four locations, including the People's Party headquarters. However, initial findings show no funds flowing into the party itself.
On 16 Jan 2024 GMT+7 at the Technology Crime Suppression Division headquarters in Muang Thong Thani, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi Province, Police Lieutenant General Thinkorn Rangmat said that following the cyber police’s arrest of Mr. Ratchpong, known as Pond Sroysuwan, 32, a former MP for Tak Province’s 2nd district from the People's Party and MP candidate in the same district, who was a beneficiary of the online gambling site “nakarin789” on 14 Jan, investigations are ongoing.
The latest update is that Police Lieutenant General Surapol Prembutr, Commander of the Technology Crime Suppression Division, has ordered the investigative team to expand the financial trail inquiry of the “nakarin789” gambling website linked to Mr. Ratchpong, focusing on money transfers tied to four locations: a residence in Nawamin area, a residence in Tak Province, the parliament building, and the People's Party headquarters.
Preliminary checks indicate these locations were used solely for financial transactions, with no evidence yet of funds flowing into the party. Authorities are intensifying efforts to determine if others are involved, who received money, and who benefited from these activities.
However, during interrogation, the suspect claimed he started the gambling website between 2022 and 2023 after being invited by Chinese investors, and that he sold the website around the time he ran for MP in 2023. This statement is currently under verification to determine its accuracy.
